Kindergarten: Day 16

Not much was said after today’s class. However Isabel did get her red take-home folder, which she was worried about because we didn’t bring it home yesterday after our fair tour. The folder was full with work from the 2 days she missed this week. Can we say homework?!

Coloring page from yesterdays trip to the “Howdy Tour”.

Today’s number is number 1 (earlier in the week it was zero).

Back: pattern bears.

“Mm” work. “Mm” is for monkey, moon, mail, mushroom, mop, and mask.

Back: more “Mm” work for mitten, monkey, mask, milk, and mail.

She helped Marco get to school using a pink crayon.

Back: a cute poem.

“Cc” – “Children obey your parents in the Lord,  for this is right.” Ephesians 6:1

“Bb” – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31

“Aa” – “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Kindergarten: Day 15

Today was our first field trip day! We went to the “Howdy Tour” at the fair. Now this isn’t to confused with “fair” day, that was on Monday, where the whole school got out early to attend the fair. Which I think is totally absurd!

We allowed Isabel back to school since her cough and runny nose had really died done since Monday and Tuesday. I was even able to chaperonage with another mom! Off to the fair…

Luckily for you, I was able to get a few photos before BOTH batteries died early on the tour…

The whole class was able to attend the “Howdy Tour”.
Can you find Isabel?

After meeting up with our tour guide we got to see 2 different batches of baby pigs that were 10 days apart. So cute and what a difference 10 days makes!

We headed into the cow barn but we didn’t get to see any actual real cows because they were moving things around for the sheep and pigs to arrive later in the day. But we learned about butter making and milking cows. We even got to see Mabel…

Learning how to milk Mabel (not a real cow).

Trying her “hand” at milking.

This is a 2 hand job!

We explored different areas of the fair and got to see lots of different animals from pigs, turkeys, camels, rabbits, ducks, llamas, zebra, goats, sheep, Watusi, emus, draft horses (huge), show dogs, bees, horses, chickens, and even a ZEDONK!

Agriculture displays of corn, grapes, beans, tomatoes, potatoes, apples, honey, cucumbers, onions, cabbage, beets, zucchini, carrots, squash, wheat, and a 900+ lb. pumpkin!

We saw collections from peoples personal collections of items from Star Wars, Piglet, My Little Pony (was the largest), Twilight, Muppets, Coca-Cola, wooden toys, spoons, bells, and other items.

It was a great tour, lasting 2 hours, glad it was different then last years tour. Isabel was disappointed she couldn’t get any cotton candy and others wanted to ride some of the rides. Or at least eat, we were so hungry by the time to head back to school.

We Shall Have Cake

We stayed home from church today because Isabel was complaining of an earache. She was also coughing and her nose was running non stop. So I kept her in her pj’s and kept her from getting to excited.

She went off early in the morning and came back with a birthday cake for Daddy that she had made. She set up a table and chairs and even served up slices of her cake to me (Daddy had some later).

Her birthday party for Daddy.

The cake was made up of 2 slices of decorated paper, cut and taped together to form a layered (puffy) look. With the leftover paper, she made striped candles, which she then taped to the top of the cake. She glued yellow pom-poms to the candles to act as the flame and then sliced (cut) out pieces of her pie for us to eat.

Kindergarten: Day 12

Today Isabel was all excited to tell me about helping her classmate out and making her not feel so lonely. I guess from what Isabel says, the girl and Isabel got along very well all day. I told her that was GREAT and then when I asked what her name was. Isabel said, “Taylor.” After she said that, I was even more excited because usually she never asks to get the persons name. So I’m very glad she remembered!

Today the class had a earthquake drill and a fire drill. Isabel said while they were doing the earthquake drill they were singing, “God is So Good“, while they were under the tables together. During the fire drill, she mentioned seeing Presley but she didn’t talk with her because, “you don’t talk during a fire drill”. She did wave at her though.

Today’s number was the number 9. Isabel drew 9 circle’s, I told her they looked like blueberries. She thought that was funny.

The worked with green/orange pattern sets.

Today’s dot to dot was a goose.

The class also worked in their Creation books and worked on day 5. God creates birds and sea animals and commands them to be fruitful and multiply.

They got another word-less book. This one is about a class of kindergartners.

This is the last day for our 2 verses Monday we get a new one!

“Bb” – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31

“Aa” – “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Kindergarten: Day 11

I’ve been noticing that even though school is supposed to start right at 8:30 a.m. most of the parent’s are struggling to make it to school in time. For the past 3 days, most of the parents have been late. I was running late one day last week and just made it to the classroom before having to go to the office first, and I told myself never again! Even with the road construction along all the routes leading to school, I will be there early. Hopefully with fall and winter approaching I can keep my self proclaimed promise!

Front side. She later noticed that she forgot to do the lower case “s”.

Backside.

Second word-less book. This one is about a boy and his missing teddy bear.

When I picked Isabel up from school today, the only thing she would talk about was recess and NOT getting to see or play with Presley that long. I couldn’t get anything else out of her! Hopefully tomorrow is a better day and we can get more information about her day.

Kindergarten: Day 10

This morning we ran into some friends at school whom we haven’t seen since school began. Our friend (who’s in 1st grade) was so worried that Isabel didn’t got to his school and his mom was just making it up because he hadn’t seen her there! So we met up in the parking lot before class. They were so excited to see each other that Isabel couldn’t  wait to get out of car. When she gets out the car, the 2 just stand there staring at each other not saying a word! So funny!

So come to find out…while I was walking back to the car, our friend was pulling out and she stops to tell me that the kids never see each other because the 1st grader doesn’t get to have their first recess because the teacher said, “they have to much work to do.” I was a bit shocked by this. How can you not allow kids to play??! That’s just as important, if not more so then the school work. I’m still scratching my head on this one…

Anyway’s, Isabel got to see Mrs. W this morning in class. Mrs. W stopped by to say “hi” to all her old students and to encourage Eden, who has still been struggling each day. Isabel was excited to see her and gave her a big hug (along with the others that had her last year as well).

She didn’t say a lot about today. She mentioned that one of the boys wasn’t feeling well today. He kept his head down on his desk and stuck by Mrs. Boettcher. Isabel said she tried to comfort him and take care of him. She also got to play with Presley on the playground again. She thought that was really fun. Eden is doing much better today. Her family has left her with a photo of them and whenever she is sad, she looks at her picture. It seems to be working!

Today’s number is 8. The class is counting down the days to 100. On the 100th day the class is going to have a party!

Pattern cubes of color. She colored the cubes that went along with the pattern Mrs. Boettcher gave her.

Her dot-to-dot today was a horse. She got excited seeing Mrs. W and lost her focus of doing it.
Got a little crazy.

This picture went along with a story that was told and Isabel had to remember the story and color each item a certain color.

“Bb” – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31

“Aa” – “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23
