WALL•E

Yesterday we went as to see the matinee showing of “WALL•E”. Very cute and the moral of the story is a good one. Isabel did well during the previews and the first half of the movie but the last half of the movie it was time for a nap. All in all she did rather well for it being her second movie theater experience; her first being “Horton Hears a Who”.

Isabel and I with WALL•E.

Daisy and Lula

I’m always writing about Isabel and what we as a family are doing but I always forget two very important beings in our household…Daisy and Lula.
Daisy is dreading the coming of fall and winter but that means more blankets on the bed and the furnace running. She will also get to wear her doggie sweaters, which she’s already been seen wearing this past summer!!! Lula is looking forward to a much needed trip to the spa (aka: the washing machine and dryer). All in all, they are both doing well. They seem to have bonded in the last few days, I found Lula sleeping with Daisy yesterday and they looked so comfy together I had to take a quick photo…

Trim time

So I’ve been telling myself to give Isabel’s bangs a trim for about a week now. I’m always so nervous trimming her bangs for fear of gouging out an eye! Or trimming them so short they look ridiculous. So I try and put it off for as long as I can but today was the day to get it done. They needed to be trimmed, she was looking like a hippie!

Before shot of the hippie bangs.

After shot of trimmed bangs!

And of course we had to see what they looked like with a hat on!
That’s important ya know! :o)

Emotions

Isabel has a Little Leaps learning system that she received 2 years ago for Christmas and one of the CD games is learning with Winnie the Pooh. Isabel’s favorite part of the whole CD is the section about emotions. So we have been working on explaining emotions to her and we think she’s understanding how to express herself. Enjoy!

Surprised! Like Tigger.

Sad; when your feelings get hurt. Like Eeyore.

Happy. Like Winnie.

Offbeat

The beginnings of an acrobat.

Or maybe a beautician.

So then I handed the camera to Isabel and showed her how to take a picture. It was a bit hard for her to hold the camera and press the button all the way down. But she did quite well with her first lesson. After one blurry shot, what do you think? Gino says that it looks like I just woke up, that is not the case. I just don’t take great photos…

…sent from up above…

F.Y.I. before reading this posting…Isabel has seen VeggieTales: King George and the Ducky so many times now that I often have one of the songs stuck in my head for weeks on end. Which is fine, the lesson behind it is one everyone (adults even) should hear over and over again. But today the lyrics eluded me…

Anyway, today Isabel just started singing “…sent from up above…” over and over and over again. At first I gave it no thought and then when Gino got home from work, he mentioned, “Isn’t that from a poem or prayer or something”. I couldn’t place it and was just enjoying hearing her sing song voice sing it over and over and over again. While cleaning up after dinner I burst into song singing “Endangered Love” the silly song that Larry sings on King George and the Ducky. When BAM! it hits me! That’s the song Isabel has been singing all day long…”sent from up above…” Maybe we can get her singing it on video; too cute!

VeggieTales: King George and the Ducky
“Endangered Love”
Words by Mike Nawrocki

Narrator:And now it’s time for silly songs with Larry; the part of the show where Larry comes out and sings a silly song…

We join Larry as he follows the tragic saga of Barbara Manatee in the day time drama; “Endangered Love”

Barbara Manatee! (manatee, manatee)
You are the one for me! (one for me, one for me)
Sent from up above! (up above, up above)
You are the one I love! (Barbara, Oh Barbara)

Please don’t cry, Barbara. You’re a nice manatee. You’ve been so good to me. But I must go into the world and do noble things for the good of all and you can’t come because you don’t speak French.
Aurevoir!

But if you leave Bill who will take me to the ball? Who’s going to take me to the ball, Bill? I have a new dress and shoes and new manatee lipstick. Who will take me to the ball?

I’ll take you to the ball Barbara Manatee!

Please don’t go…I must.
Don’t go…I must.
Don’t…must.
Don’t, don’t!…Must, must!

Barbara Manatee (manatee, manatee)
You are the one for me (one for me, one for me)
Sent from up above (manatee from heaven)
You are the one I love
Barbara Manatee (manatee, manatee)
I’ll be your mon ami (mon ami, mon ami)
I’ll take you to the ball (to the ball, to the ball)
I hope you’re not too tall ( you might have trouble dancing)

Bill! I’ve learned French!
You have?!
Mai oui! Je sui manatee, See?!
Oui! Oui! Mon ami! I’ve always knew you could! I really hope you would! Now can we go into the world and do noble things for the good of all?
Yes! But first Bill…will you take me to the ball? Oh, Bill…will you take me to the ball?
I can’t dance
You can’t?!
No.
I must go.
Please don’t go!…I must!
Don’t go!…I must!
Don’t!…Must!
Don’t, Don’t!…Must, Must!

Barbara Manatee! (manatee manatee)
You are the one…

Larry, what are you doing?
Just…watching a little…T.V….Bob?
Well, maybe you should read a book.
Yeah, okay

This has been silly songs with Larry. Tune in next time to hear Bill say:
Barbara! I’ve learned to dance!
Oh, Bill!

Bob and Larry and coffee

One of Isabel’s bath tub toys is the VeggieTales Slushie bath toy. You can use the cups to pour water in the spout (where Bob and Larry are sitting) and depending on where the yellow handle is located the water will flow out one of 3 ways. 1. a spiral slide picture (on the left). 2. the waterwheel (in the middle). 3. Bob’s “tank” ( the right). This “tank” is what this posting is about – to get it to work, just fill the “tank” and then push the red button to dispense the water.

Well, after our play time at the park yesterday, I needed to give Isabel a much needed bath. While playing in the tub after getting all clean, Isabel grabs a cup and pushes the red button on the Bob “tank”, pretending to dispense something into the cup. She “fills” up the cup and begins to “drink”. She lowers the cup from her lips and pronounces…”I drink coffee. Coffee good.”…
Ok, where did that come from?!?!??!?!!
