Kindergarten: Day 20

Over the next few weeks the school will be holding MAP testing for grades K-12. This includes Isabel. The test is designed to show exactly were the students are at academically. The teacher then can help that student in the area’s were they need help. Today was Isabel’s testing. She said they went into the computer room and did the testing. Everyone had headphones on and when the test was over a dog walked onto the screen and barked. Isabel said she didn’t like that part because it was to loud and she couldn’t find the volume button. I don’t know if we will be shared the results of the test since we just found out the night before about the testing. So we’ll see.

The mornings opening activity was a vertical line practice for numbers.

When the class got back from their MAP testing, Mrs. Boettcher passed out block shapes for the above activity. A hexagon, trapezoids. and triangles. Isabel said the class made different objects with the shapes they were given. Isabel says she made a flower with her shapes and the block design on her paper above.

Back: More vertical line practice. Isabel said she wanted to add more vertical lines to her paper. She even drew a face on her bear.

During recess Isabel says she played with Taylor and another new friend. Isabel said she asked the new friend her name but she didn’t tell her what it was. She said she’d find out tomorrow. On the playground the girls played on the monkey bars. Isabel says she really likes the monkey bars because she can hang and swing.

Mrs. Boettcher gave each of the students a blank sheet of paper and told them to write the letter “Rr” (more vertical lines!). Whoever got the most “Rr’s” got a sticker.

Back: More vertical lines! Isabel did a fantastic job with her “Rr’s“.
I gave her a big high-5! Great job!!
