Kindergarten: Day 17

Today we awoke to a very foggy morning that lasted all morning until I went to pick up Isabel at 11:30.

Today is Johnny Appleseed Day (which is actually Monday the 26)!

John Chapman (Johnny Appleseed) was born on September 26, 1774. He was a nurseryman who started planting trees in western New York and Pennsylvania. During his life the “west” was places like Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, and Illinois. John Chapman was a deeply religious person. He was known to preach during his travels. He lead a simple live and wanted little. He rarely accepted money and often donated any money he received. It is believed he died on March 11, 1845. The actual date of his death has been disputed.

When we entered the gym today to walk across it to get to class, we noticed Mrs. Boettcher welcoming others to class. Isabel said, “Now why does she have a pot on her head?!” From where we were standing it looked like she had a real pot on her head!

In honor of Johnny Appleseed all the exercises were apple related.

More apple exercises with counting.

Isabel said they even got to paint (with) apples. Mrs. Boettcher had apples cut in half and the class got to stamp-paint using apples. Isabel was really excited about this. I told her you can paint with other fruits and vegetables like, potatoes, corn on the cob, and pineapple.

Isabel and Mrs. Boettcher with their Johnny Appleseed pots. So cute!

I had to get another one… So adorable!!
