Let’s cut paper

Today, Isabel and I worked on how to use scissors properly, so first some ground rules…

1. Don’t point scissors at anyone (ever).
2. Keep scissors closed until you are using them to cut paper. Very sharp.
3. Only cut paper. Watch for fingers, clothes, hair, etc.
4. Have fun!

Beginner cuts…so focused on her work.

More beginner work…to get the “feel” of handling scissors.

This task was to do a continuous cut across the whole paper.

Three beginner tasks: Woof! Meow! Growl!
Open and closing the scissors (one stroke).

Cutting a continuous line; a bit rough.

Vroom! Vroom! Beep! Beep!

Same task as the car; continuous open and closing across the page, much smoother.

Splish! Splash!

Some outdoor activities

Around here we have been patiently waiting for spring to “feel” like it’s actually here and today was the first day! So we headed outside to do some fun activities out-of-doors! Enjoy!

Silly girl helping Daddy wash the truck.

Getting all the nooks and crannies!

Onto finger painting…

Paint plate looks cool.

We each did a hand print…or two…or three…

The drawing board

Isabel got her easel this last Christmas but she hasn’t really used it in awhile so whenever she decides to draw, I always want to capture whatever she produces. This morning she asked me if she could and I was ready to sit back and enjoy the art show! Enjoy!

A letter “A” – she however looped the side lines around.

This is all Isabel! All I did was put the three blue dots, she did all the rest…body/head, mouth, arms, hands, legs, and feet. I was totally impressed with this little guy I had to take a picture! Well done!!

A fish.

Now it’s just about time for a nap!

First try

We found these cool dry erase books at Target a while back and today was Isabel’s first lesson in writing. We thought she did an amazing job for her first try…

Straight line making.

More practice; she controls the pen really well.

Afterward we moved onto something a bit more complex; letter writing.
She did a GREAT job!
(little stinker stuck her tongue out!)

An apple a circle a cat and a tutu

The biggest gift Isabel received for Christmas was an art easel. One side has a chalk board the other a dry erase board and in the middle it holds a roll of paper to feed through the top and bottom for paints, markers, or whatever!

Tonight while I was getting dinner ready, Isabel was busily making art on the dry erase side of the board. Enjoy!

All smiles even though she has the yuckie germies, poor girlie!

The concentration…

Her finished work.
