Practice writing

Today I thought I would try and see if Isabel could write some simple letters. She did rather well for her first try. We’ll keep practicing and share what she does with you. Enjoy!

This practice sample are the letter’s: A and I.
Can you see Isabel’s letter’s in pink?

This practice sample are the letter’s: B and C
Can you see Isabel’s letter’s in pink?
(Hint: her B is on it’s side)

This practice sample are the letter’s: H and O
Isabel drew a D in blue instead.

This practice sample is the letter: E
She started out doing an amazing job then got frustrated with it.
Can you see Isabel’s E?
(Hint: It looks like a perfect L)

Washable markers

…not so much!

I have to admit this one isn’t all Isabel. I drew the pink and yellow flower
in the corner and Gino wrote the “I (heart) U” in the bottom corner.

Also this started out being a picture of a face with eyes, ears, mouth, and hair.
She colored all over it so you can’t make it out anymore.

God made the animals

Today in church, Isabel learned about God making all the animals.

Genesis 1:20-25 (NIV)
20 And God said, “Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky.” 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth.” 23 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fifth day.

24 And God said, “Let the land produce living creatures according to their kinds: livestock, creatures that move along the ground, and wild animals, each according to its kind.” And it was so. 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good.

She was so excited because she got to “make” her own Lula, too! :o)

Finger-paint

We have had several weeks of cooler/cloudy/rainy weather around here, so again, Isabel and I were stuck indoors. Therefore I decided to let her finger paint. As far as I know she has never done this, unless she has at church but I’m guessing no, since I haven’t seen any of the “artwork”. So on this morning, I laid down some paper on the kitchen floor and got some of my scrapbook paper and let her paint. Surprisingly she didn’t get as messy as I thought she would; she kept asking for wipes to wipe her hands off. She’s such a “clean” kid!
I also did a hand and footprint to keep in our memory book. She thought this was very cool and asks me often throughout the days since finger painting if we can do this again…please! Enjoy the photos!

She gets the hang of it!

Such concentration!

Isabel thinks finger painting is fun!

After they laid on the floor to dry, that next morning I hung them on the doors to the pantry closet.

Crayola Color Wonder Fingerpaints

This week has been all about coloring with the use of crayons, colored pencils, and finger paints!

Today we sat down and used this wonderful new product by Crayola® it’s called Color Wonder Finger Paints®. The “paint” is the texture of Carmex® and you apply it to special paper with your fingers and the color appears only on the special paper. It’s great (see updated note below!).

Isabel had a fun time and is really proud to be showing off her latest artwork.

UPDATE! January 17th 2010: If you should be in the market for anything (paints/markers) Color Wonder, be forewarned that the colors do not last! I was planning on saving them in a scrapbook for Isabel and the color was gone! All that was left was a oily mess. So they ended up in the trash. At least I have the photos of our day together.
