Kindergarten: Day 131

I can’t believe it’s April, when did March begin and end? It flew by so fast I missed it.

Today, begins my week and half in the school office. I’ll be covering for the Administrative Assistant, while she is on vacation. I’m looking forward to it and I hope that I can really help out during this time while she is away.

Isabel said they did a lot of stuff today during school today. They went to all school open (which is like an awards assembly on Mondays). Isabel said she learned a new song… “Heaven is a wonderful place. Filled with glory and grace. I want to see my Savior’s face. Heaven is a wonderful place. Heaven is a wonderful place. Filled with glory and grace. I wan to see my Savior’s face. Heaven is a wonderful place. Heaven is glorious. Heaven is a wonderful place.

The opening activity was a number dot-to-dot.

Phonics work with the letter “Ee“.

Back: more phonics work with the letter “Ee“.

More phonics work with the letter “Ee“.

Back: Phonics work.

Writing practice review.

Back: writing practice review with uppercase letters. Great job!

During recess, Isabel said she played with Vincent and Madeline. She said they played a secret game and she couldn’t tell me what it was.

Today was Lliam’s birthday but Isabel missed out on the cake that was shared during the afternoon. I got to try it though and even got to tell him Happy Birthday!

This week’s Bible verse:

“Vv” – Verily, verily I say unto you, whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name. He will give you.” John 16:23

Kindergarten: Day 130

What a week of bad luck… on the way into school this morning Isabel tripped somehow and fell onto the rain soaked ground skinning her knee. I took her into the bathroom to see the damage that was done and cleaned up her pants. After wiping up the wound, we headed to class to get a bandage from Mrs. Boettcher. Hopefully next week is a bit smoother for her.

Today is free-choice Friday! Isabel absolutely loves this day. Today she played with buttons and cups making cupcakes. During recess outside, she played with several of the other kids, who were playing tag.

Phonics work with the letter “Jj“.

Back: Phonics work.

Writing practice with the letter “Mm“.

Back: Hey diddle diddle the cat Megan, played the fiddle. The cow jumped over the moon. Matt the dog danced. While the cow and mouse had milk. Moo!

Today she got her new reading homework.

“Big, Bigger, Biggest” by Edward W. Dolch and Marguerite P. Dolch. A book about animals in Africa and some here at home, like the moose and grizzly bear. She read through it once this afternoon and we’ll work on reading it again over the weekend to take back on Monday for a new one.

Mrs. Boettcher also let her borrow a book as well.

The Berenstain Bears and Too Much Birthday” by Stan and Jan Berenstain.

It’s Sister Bear’s sixth birthday and they decide to have a “small” party, which turns into a large affair. By the time the party is just about to wrap up, Sister bear gets overwhelmed with it all. Isabel loves reading about the Bear family and it’s great to see her enjoy these books that often teach a very good lesson too.

Beautiful work with the number 12.

Learning that some shapes when fit together, form new shapes. Great job!

This week’s Bible verse:

“Ww” – “What time I am afraid, I will trust in Thee.” Psalm 56:3

Kindergarten: Day 129

Rain… Rain… Please go away! It has been raining since last night and does not seem to be letting up any time soon. It’s been coming down all morning and is expected to continue to do so the rest of the day, tomorrow, and way past the weekend. Bummer!

Today is Thursday and that means it’s P.E. Isabel seems to be looking more and more forward to it then she did in the beginning when she thought all they were going to do is run. Today they had different “stations” set up with different activities for the kids to rotate through. There was a bean-bag toss, jump roping, scooters, hula-hoop hop, and a few others. Isabel said she had a lot of fun doing the jumping rope station and the scooter station.

Nothing else was said about the day. She did mention that Nevan was still absent.

The opening activity was a dot-to-dot counting by tens!
Isabel can now count by 2’s, 5’s, and 10’s and she says she can count to 10,000!! Wow!

Back: she drew a picture of a dinosaur.
(the astronaut bleeding through looks to be petting the dinosaur! Cool!)
The months theme of talking about dinosaurs has been a great one. Hopefully she learned some great facts that she can share with you. Looking forward to Aprils theme…

She didn’t get her new reading book homework today but I’m expecting a new book to come with her tomorrow.
