School News: Special Helper

Today was Isabel’s special helper day and I along with Olivia’s mom and sister were the Mommy helper.

Today started out with morning prayer and special helper Isabel pointing out the months letters, numbers, shapes, and color, on the bulletin board and…

The Bible story today was from Luke 13:18-20 and was the story of the mustard seed.

Afterward we headed over to the tables to plant seeds in cups.

It’s blurry!… special helper Isabel and special helper friend Makayla.

After getting the seeds in the cups they each got to water their seeds. The seed cups were then placed in the window to grow!

Rebecca giving her seeds some water.

After planting our seeds we headed outside to play.

Girls swinging all together.

Nevan and Zackary.

Emily looked so cute on her bike with her pig-tails.

After heading back into the classroom Mrs. W read a story while the snack was being prepared.

The story today was about a Musk Ox and was about a musk ox who thought that he was unusual from his horns on his head to his fur on his back. The little musk ox gets separated from the herd and in the time it takes him to find them again. He realizes that he is special and that his horns have a purpose and even the fur on his back! God made you special and he loves you very much!

After reading the story and talking a bit with the class, Mrs. W asked everyone what they wanted to be when they grew up…
Devan – army soldier
Zackary – race car driver
Olivia – cow girl
Presley – astronaut
Isabel – doctor
Emily – teacher and a cook
Rebecca – cowgirl
Makayla – super girl
Nevan – (he didn’t answer)
Dany – race car driver
Aiden – policeman (a good guy)
Lilliana – police woman
Ezzra – author and a baker
Payton – cowgirl
Isabella – vet
Mila – planter (like flowers)
Ja’Siah – help the soldiers (like his dad)

Afterward, they headed over to the tables (as fish – special helper Isabel’s idea) to have their snack. After eating their snack Mrs. W had them do a project for her for their journals. They were given a piece of blank paper. On the front top of the paper they were to write their name and then draw a picture of themselves. Then flip the paper over and draw a square and then cut a line (but do not cut the paper completely off) along the bottom. I was helping others work on their papers and didn’t get to see Isabel’s before she handed it in. When they were finished they could enjoy free play until the bell.

The special helper today was Isabel! For snack Isabel brought to share, blueberry muffins and grape juice to share. For show and tell she brought…

School News: A Vase Of Flowers

When I arrived back at school to pick up Isabel she seemed eager to get going. So after gathering together a handful of paper, we were reminded as we went out the door, to bring a smile on Wednesday for class picture day.

After we arrived at home and I was looking through the handful of paper’s… we got a notice that Mrs. Calvert will be leaving! She will be taking over as lead teacher for the Child Care Pre Kindergarten class. I do not know when this will be taking effect. I just thought it was a little odd that they were moving her in the middle of the year… unless they need they child care teacher now. I guess I’ll find out more on Wednesday.

The Bible story today was from Exodus 20 and was about Moses and the 10 commandments. When we asked Isabel if she could remember any of the commandments she got 4 of the 10.

Do not kill. Do not steal.
No other gods but God. Obey your parents.

Today they worked in their Monday morning journals and worked on the letter “V“. “V” is for Vacuum, Van, and Vegetable, Isabel said. They talked about signs of spring and worked on a vase of flowers.

Isabel says that she got to cut the vase out and glue it on to the purple paper. She even got to write her name.

The special helper today was Anika. For show and tell Anika brought a doll, a book, and a picture of a smiley face on purple paper. For snack, Anika brought to share, My Little Pony® fruit snacks and juice.

School News: Letter U

When I arrived back at the classroom to pick Isabel up, she and several other girls were standing around Aiden waiting to get a turn to hold his show and tell. Instead of leaving right away, I stood back and watched the scene unfold in front of me.

As the show and tell was passed around Isabel kept asking very nicely to see it. Everyone would ignore her and hand it to someone else. One of the moms standing by me told her daughter that it wasn’t very nice to hand it to someone else when Isabel had been asking for it. This continued with the other girls, as Isabel kept asking and waiting patiently until everyone else had their turn with Aiden’s show and tell. In the end, instead of packing up his show and tell and heading home, Aiden waited patiently for Isabel to hold it and even showed her how to make it work! I was so proud of her (and told her so later at home), for showing patience and kindness to others even when they weren’t being so nice to her.

*~*~*~*~*~*

Today Mrs. Calvert was helping in another class and Mrs. G was helping in Isabel’s class. Also Makayla’s Mommy AND Daddy were the Mommy helper today!

The Bible story today was from Genesis 2:19-20 and was of Adam naming the animals in the Garden of Eden.

She got this Bible embossing template and when I asked her what it was for she showed me the gold paper. So I’m not really sure what this is for… but it’s still very cool. I could use it for scrapbooking!

She brought home a shamrock-rice shaker, the stickers hold the egg together. Very cute.

The letter “U” is for: Umbrella.

During recess they got to play outside in the playground, Isabel says she played with all the other girls and they played in the play house together. Then they ran around the play yard. (Anymore, whenever she says “we” it’s about her and Makayla.)

The special helper today was Aiden. For show and tell, Aiden brought 2 light saber’s. When a button on the handle was pushed, the light saber extended and lite up with lights inside. For snack Aiden brought to share, breakfast bars (Isabel’s was cherry) and apple juice in a can.

School News: Shamrock Shakes

I’m actually writing this on Friday because I forgot to write it on Wednesday and then again yesterday! I’m still working through whatever it is that I’m “sick” with. I really think it’s my allergies since all I’ve been doing is sneezing however Wednesday night I developed a slight cough. Isabel seems to be doing better today as well. Her nose is still running but doesn’t seem to be as much and she’s not sneezing as much either. So hopefully, we’ll be over this soon and enjoying spring!

Since the week’s theme has been about clouds today’s Bible story was about God creating the clouds from Genesis 1.

Today they went to the courtyard to play instead of the playground. Isabel said they ran around together because the playground was being used by another class. Since tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day, they made Shamrock Shakes! Isabel said that it tasted like ice cream to her! She also said that the cups were green and so was the shake and that she drank all of hers!

The special helper today was Devan. For show and tell Devan brought a silver and white truck with yellow strips. For snack, Devan brought to share graham crackers, string cheese, and milk.

I was able to finally get a picture of the new bulletin board at school. Can you find Isabel’s??? I’ll give you a hint… it’s along the left.

I love it! The bunnies are all so unique (just like each of the children in both classes that God created!) and the hand-print flowers are a great reminder of God working and growing in these young lives! Mrs. W and Mrs. Calvert again, had an amazing idea and it turned out fantastic!
Spring ahead with Jesus!

After we got home, I was preparing lunch when I noticed this in our chicken strips we were having…

A seahorse! Isabel thought this was so cool and enjoyed eating seahorse chicken strips for lunch!

After lunch we played several games of our Bible Go Fish. Since we’ve been sick, we’ve been playing a lot of card games.

School News: Sailors And Snakes

I’ve been sick this weekend. I awoke Sunday morning with a very sore throat and it’s still bothering me today. I think it’s only my allergies and it’s just nasal drainage going down the back of my throat. Fun.

Isabel didn’t have much to say about today and nothing was brought home in the form of art or other crafty things.

The Bible story today was Exodus 14 and was of Moses and the parting of the Red Sea.

The class worked in their Monday morning letter journals on the letter “U“.

This week the class is studying clouds and today they read the story of Little Cloud.

Today they played in the gym and outside. In the gym they play “Sailors and Sharks“. Isabel said it was kind of like playing tag. Half the class are the Sailors and the other half are the Sharks. With a two finger touch only, the sharks run around trying to touch the sailors. Isabel said she was a sailor both times they played the game, the first time someone touched and she became a shark then second time she ran fast and got away.

The special helper was Payton. For show and tell, Payton brought a Barbie doll and she had clothes, Isabel said. For snack, Payton brought to share, water and brownies.

School News: Letter T

Today when I went to pick Isabel up we headed over to the science table and see all the work that was done in the ant farm. Again, I should have taken pictures but I didn’t! I’ve been thinking about getting Isabel one, because she doesn’t want to leave the classroom!

The Bible story today was from Matthew 14:22-33 and was about Jesus walking on the water to his disciple in the boat. Who thought he was a ghost. Jesus told them to take courage and to not be afraid.

The class worked in their number journals today and worked with numbers “6” and “7”. Isabel said they don’t do their number journals everyday. Today they got to play outside in the playground and she played with Makayla. They did “straw painting” today. They put paint on paper and then blew through the straws.

Isabel says her straw painting looks like a star.

The letter “T” is for: turtle, tap, and tea (the beverage she says).

The special helper today was Eden. For show and tell, Eden brought a white dog that made noise and had a dog bowl and a dog treat. For snack, Eden brought to share, square cheese crackers and juice.

School News: Spaghetti

When I arrived back at the classroom to pick Isabel up, the majority of the class (w/parents) were huddled around the science table. After some of the people cleared, Isabel pulled me over to show me the new addition to the classroom… an ant farm! The little ants were already digging tunnels in the farm (should have taken a picture!). Very cool. Will have to check back on Friday to see how they are doing.

Today was Chapel. In Chapel they heard the story from Acts 27, it was the story of Paul sailing to Rome on a ship during a storm and ended with a shipwreck. An angel of God came to Paul and said, “Do not be afraid.” They sang two songs in Chapel; My God Is So Big and the Goodbye Song.

My God is so big, So strong and so mighty,
There’s nothing my God cannot do. (clap clap)
My God is so big, So strong and so mighty,
There’s nothing my God cannot do. (clap clap)
The mountians are His, The valleys are His,
The stars are His handiwork too. (clap clap)
My God is so big, So strong and so mighty,
There’s nothing my God cannot do.
(Isabel loves this song and is always singing it.
She even has her own hand motions to the song!)

Today they made spaghetti with meatballs and sang the Spaghetti Song.

“On top of spaghetti all covered with cheese.
I lost my poor meatball when somebody sneezed.
It rolled off the table, it rolled on the floor,
and then my poor meatball rolled out of the door.
It rolled in the garden and under a bush,
and then my poor meatball was nothing but mush.
The mush was as tasty as tasty could be,
and early next summer it grew to a tree.
The tree was all covered with beautiful moss.
It grew great big meatballs and tomato sauce.
So if you eat spaghetti all covered with cheese,
hold on to your meatball and don’t ever sneeze.”
(
We sang this together on the way home in the car!)

Since it was pouring rain during recess the class played games in the gym today.

The special helper today was Addie. For show and tell Addie brought a breakable brown-haired doll named Fiona. For snack, Addie brought to share, square crackers with a hole in the middle. Isabel said she had a bag of these crackers but Makayla had more in her bag then Isabel.  They also had fruit punch juice to drink.

This postcard is from Makayla. She brought it to class and wanted to stick it in Isabel’s mailbox! I thought it was to cute not to share! (I did erase Makayla’s last name)
