Kindergarten: Day 63

Again, not much was said about school today except recess. We tried getting more information but she says she can’t remember. So I get what I can!

The Bible story was about baby Jesus.

The opening activity was a maze. Isabel loves doing these. She said she started to use green but decided to use pencil because she didn’t want to mess up. I told her that was O.K. and she helped the shepherds find the manger!

Name writing practice. We do this at home as well. Mrs. Boettcher told us about a cool website that allows you to add your own info and then just print it at home! So awesome!!

Learning placements; first, second, third and fourth.

Back: practice writing for the number “8“.
Make an “Ss” and go back home!

Kindergarten: Day 62

Not much was said about school today. At recess she swung on the swings. She also said she played with a girl (couldn’t remember her name) from the other Kindergarten class. They played like it was Christmas. She didn’t tell me much about it, just that some boys came by and messed everything up.

Today was show and tell for the girls and they were told to bring a Christmas ornament. Isabel said she saw a ballerina and 2 Hello Kitty ornaments. She couldn’t remember the other ones.

Isabel took her ornament from 2008.

The opening activity was to decorate the Christmas tree.
I love how she made the star looking like it was shiny and bright!

School Christmas Program 2011

Tonight was the school’s Christmas program. The Kindergarten program was first followed by the Elementary program.

Isabel has been excited about it for the past several days. I think she’s just excited for the cookie’s afterward!

The program from the performance.

Before heading out the door at home, we stopped by our tree for a quick photo.

Merry Christmas!
So cute!

After arriving at school we drop her off  in the music room and then head into the sanctuary of the church to find a seat. Hope we get a good one! Only then do we realize that we forgot the video camera. Bummer!

Both Kindergarten classes sang together as a group and sang about 5 or 6 songs. Each of the kids had a speaking part. We practiced Isabel’s line each and every day.

While everyone else is singing…wonder what she’s thinking??? Haha!!

“The angels sang beautiful praises to God.”  that was Isabel’s line. She said she got shy and forgot her lines.

It was a great program, the kids did a fantastic job singing and reciting their lines. Afterward we headed over to the gym for cookies and other goodies to eat.

Kindergarten: Day 61

We had a lot to gather this morning as we headed out the door. We even had 2 dozen cookies for the Christmas program tonight as well.

Today was Chapel and Isabel said they practiced for the program tonight and they got to use real microphones! They aren’t allowed to hold the microphone, it will be kept on a stand but they can adjust it to speak into.

The work from today…

The opening activity was a coloring picture of Saint Nicolas.
I love how colorful this is!

Phonics work with the letter “Ff”.

Back: “Ff” writing practice.

Isabel brought home a lot of past work…

She didn’t work on this today but another day, she couldn’t remember.
She did a great job writing the numbers and could recall the times on each clock as I showed them to her.

Back: Number practice with the letter “8“.

This project they did toward the beginning of the year.
The tree is her arm and then sponge painted on leaves.

This was actually from earlier in the year as well.
I took a picture of the whole bulletin board here.

This they did just a few weeks ago.
The turkey is her hand and thumb print. The feather’s and feet  are prints from a very large potato!

Kindergarten: Day 60

It was only 24° when we left for school this morning.

Isabel was anxious to get to class this morning to see if Mrs. Boettcher was back. When she entered the classroom, she was glad to see her and gave her a big hug.

Today was All-School-Open and they practiced for their Christmas program, which is tomorrow night.

When I arrived at school to pick up her up after school, they were still practicing over in the church and arrived back at the classroom late.

Isabel said they did have snack time and did get out to recess today but otherwise they just practiced.

Kindergarten: Day 59

Today was just more practice for the program next week.

They did get back to the classroom for snack and free-choice Friday! The whole school was on 1/2 day for a teacher’s work day.

The opening activity was a maze. Isabel did a great job coloring her “Cc” for cake maze.

Phonics work with the letter “Ff“.

Kindergarten: Day 57

Isabel was excited to show everyone at school her missing tooth. We stopped by and showed Mrs. W, who was excited to see that she had lost it so quickly. When we arrived at the classroom the first person she showed was Mrs. Kelso who just happened to be standing at the door when we arrived!

After school, Isabel told me she was a great “pusher” on the playground. She said that she pushed several of her friends on the swings today and she did a great job. Also during recess, she said she was looking for white rocks. She wants to start a white rock collection. Oh boy, please not another collection…

The opening activity was a maze again but this one was for “Ff“. “Ff” is for flower.

I thought this was interesting… Isabel and Lliam were talking about sharks. Lliam was telling Isabel that he didn’t know how to draw a shark, that it was to hard to do. So Isabel showed Lliam how to draw a shark (easy) and a sword fish and for fun a bear face. When she told me about this I thought it was great that she was helping her classmate draw something that to Isabel was so easy. I love it!

This was a lesson with remembering. They had two stories earlier in the year about a wort hog and one with elephants. Each character made something, either a peanut butter and jelly sandwich or muffins. So Isabel had to recall the story and group all the items used to get the final product.

Back: phonics work with letters “Dd” and “Nn“.

Math work with pennies, counting and matching.

Back: practice with the number “7” and she had to draw “7” cookies.

More math work. Working with patterns.

Back: More “7” practice and working with pennies.
Isabel said she used several colors to get the exact color of the pennies.

Today was Show and Tell for the boys. Their letter was “Ff“. Isabel said she didn’t get to see all that was brought but she got to see what Nevan brought and he brought a fish named “Fishy Fish”, who was actually Nemo from the movie “Finding Nemo”.

UPDATE (12-01)! I asked Mrs. Kelso if it was alright to take a picture with the tooth chart before we left and she said go ahead. 5 classmates, including Isabel lost their teeth during the month of November. Mrs. Kelso told me that they did a count the other day and there are 15 kids with loose teeth in class. So December is going to be a very busy month for the tooth fairy!
