First Grade: Day 32

Thankful Thursday is P.E. with Mrs. S and computer lab with Mrs. T. Today they had music class (normally tomorrow) as well with Mr. G. They are still practicing for their Christmas program coming up called “Candy Cane Lane”. Can’t wait to see that!

For P.E. today they played hockey and freeze tag. It was the first time she’s played hockey and she enjoyed playing that. She also liked playing freeze tag.

For computer lab, they did AR testing. Isabel said she got all the answers right for all 3 books she read.

Word matching.

Choosing the right word that completes the sentences.
Great writing!

Practicing the Bible verse for this week.

Tomorrow is the field trip to the pumpkin patch. They are all so excited!!

First Grade: Day 31

Today is Wonderful Wednesday! Today is music class with Mr. G. The class is practicing for their upcoming Christmas program.

Not much was said about today after school. She is super excited about going on the field trip on Friday though.

Front: learning “oy” at the end as in “boy”.

Back: learning “oi” in the middle as in “boil”.

Still learning about the community.

First Grade: Day 30

Today is Terrific Tuesday which means it’s Chapel and library day!

Today Teacher Mrs. A and Teacher Mrs. D both spoke in Chapel. Teacher Mrs. A, read the story “The Oak Inside the Acorn” by Max Lucado. Isabel was excited to hear a book that she has at home!

The library book she got today was another Berenstain Bears book. She loves those bears!

Ready, Get Set, Go!
I’ve told her she needs to stretch herself a little more and get a more challenging book.

Unscramble the words.
Her writing is looking great!

Working with nouns again.
Great job!

Again great writing!

The class is really looking forward to Friday and the 2nd field trip of the year, going to the pumpkin patch! Hopefully with some great weather they will have a wonderful time! Either way, I know they’ll have fun!

First Grade: Day 29

Monday in class is called “Marvelous Monday”!

Marvelous Mondays are also All-School Open. During All-School Open this morning, most of the kids in her class got an AR award. The whole school has already read over 4 million words and are working toward their goal of 50 million words by the end of the year!

For afternoon recess today, they had to play in the gym because of the rain. Isabel didn’t say what they did together.

Ready Reader Award from the Accelerated Reader Program!
(dated last month and she just got it today!)

The class did a lot of work today, she brought home over 6 pages of work!
I won’t post them all but just wanted to get a few posted…

Social Studies work.
Teacher Mrs. B asked the class for some answer’s. Teacher Mrs. B wrote the answers on the board and then Isabel wrote them down on her paper.

Social Studies: What is your right and responsibility?

Naming parts (or nouns) of a sentence.
Great job!

The Bible verse for this week is:

“Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 2:5

First Grade: Day 28

Friday in class is called “Fantastic Fridays“.

On Fantastic Fridays, they attend music class with Mr. G, just like on Wednesdays. Like I mentioned on Wednesday, they are practicing for their Christmas program in December.

This weeks Friday was STUFFED with all this weeks past work. They do so much work throughout the week! So I won’t be posting it and I don’t remember doing that much work when I was in first grade!

Today, they had a birthday celebration for Fiona. Fiona brought cupcakes to share and goody bags with small gifts for the class. Like purple plastic teeth, tattoos, erasers, a squishy eyeball, and a ring!

Isabel with her purple teeth and squishy eyeball.

The class also had some special guests; Isabella’s parents taught the class how to make a lizard out of beads. They gave the kids a pattern and some beads and then had them arrange the beads on the pattern. Isabel said she had a lot of fun making hers.

Isabel’s pink lizard hangs on her bulletin board in her room. The “white” beads glow-in-the-dark! She thought this was so COOL!

Front: learning contractions.

Back: What happens next? They eat the pie!
I love this drawing!

Finished up the story of Babel this week.
Genesis 11:1-9

Midterm progress reports were sent home today as well. Isabel is doing a fantastic job in all academic areas; Bible, phonograms, handwriting, spelling, math, and reading.

First Grade: Day 27

Thursday in class is called “Thankful Thursdays“.

Thankful Thursday is also P.E. with Mrs. S and computer lab with Mrs. T.

For P.E. today they played a game with hula hoops and bean bags. They had to “capture” bean bags from the other team. Isabel said she got a lot of bean bags from the other team!

For computer lab, they did AR testing. Isabel said she got all the answers right on her testing.

Finish the question sentences.

This worksheet reminded me of the book “The Little Red Hen”.

Practice writing for the Bible verse this week.

<>< o <>< o <>< o <>< o <>< o <><

Big smiles while we do some homework.
I love that little face!

First Grade: Day 26

Today is Wonderful Wednesday! Today is music class with Mr. G.

In music class they have begun to practice for their Christmas program in December. I got to hear one of the songs (very cute) and it sounds like Jingle Bells. Can’t wait to hear and see the whole program when they bring it all together!

The class is finishing up their M.A.P. testing this week. M.A.P. testing is a tool Teacher Mrs. B will use to see where Isabel is academically. Where she is at. Where she needs help. The school does the testing 2 or 3 times a year, to see where the students are.

Today the class did another science experiment.
The page above explains what they did together.

Science results of the experiment for solid, liquid and gas.

Learning how to structure sentences.
Capital at the begin with punctuation at the end.

More writing sentence practice.
This one she wrote her first letter backward and added an “s” to the end word.

Great job on everything!

First Grade: Day 24

Monday in class is called “Marvelous Monday”!

Marvelous Mondays are also All-School Open, the school assembly that is held first thing each Monday of the week. This morning Isabel had 6 R’s on her desk!! She was super excited about that and wanted to get them to the office quick for All-School open.

We also noticed she had 3 papers on the bulletin board; a spelling test, a math sheet, and a writing sheet. We’ll probably see those in her Friday Folder for the week.

This morning was a long All-School Open with a visit from the high school football team and cheerleaders. The football team and cheerleaders opened the school year for the “Fuel up to Play 60” program. A program used to encourage kids to make healthy choices at school and in life and to be active for 60 minutes every day! They had the program last year as well, but Isabel wasn’t as involved with only being half day.

Front: phonics work.

Back: word match.
