A Forest And A Barn

Since I haven’t added any of Isabel’s art work lately, I thought it was about time. Enjoy!

This first one she did on Tuesday was for me. She said it’s a forest with trees, a bird, a monkey, a snake, and a mouse. If you look closely along the bottom in the brown dirt you can see she even added roots to her trees. Oh, and the small half circle shape by the monkey on the tree, is a sticker of a leaf falling from the trees.

I absolutely love it! Her art has changed so much in the last year it’s so great to see what will come from her crayons or markers when she sits down to draw!

This second picture was done for Daddy on Thursday. It’s a red barn with a hay loft (with hay) and two cows. I love this one too!

Pictures For Others

After running some errands this morning, Isabel was given the choice of digging in the dirt or painting. She choose painting and decided to paint pictures for others… Enjoy!

This was her last picture that she painted and it was a finger paint project. This one is for me, she said and she calls it “Hand-print”

This was her first painted project and was brushes and sponges. This one is for me as well and she calls this one “Candy”. When I asked her why she says it’s gum balls, tootsie rolls, and suckers.

This one is for Grandma and Grandpa and she calls it, “I love you, butterfly”.

This one is for Nana and Pompo and she calls it, “Rainbow scene”.

One last item to share… while I was getting lunch ready, Isabel pulls her easel over to the kitchen and pulls up a chair. She sits down and calls Daisy over to her. I think, Daisy was thinking, she was going to get a juicy treat because she came running! However Isabel had other ideas…

She told Daisy she was going to teach her how to do math. She drew (for some reason she drew all the numbers backward!) math problems and tried to get Daisy’s attention back from the disappointment of NOT getting a treat! It was so funny! Isabel says that she wrote the word “Amen” on the board because she was so surprised by how well Daisy did with her math problems!!

Birthday Original For Jimmy

I have decided that shopping for a boy (for his birthday) is a lot harder then shopping for a girl! When shopping for a boy, you have two choices, action figures or cars. THAT IS IT!!! When shopping for a girl, your choices are endless! SERIOUSLY!!!

With that said, I am not a parent that follows the “crowd” or the “trend” in toys. I am NOT into buying my daughter princess garbage (Or telling her that she is one! She is NOT!) or Barbie/BRATS/Zombie High junk either. Furthermore, I am NOT into buying boys action figures and cars (I must admit I have bought them as gifts though)! That is ridiculous!

So when Isabel and I were walking the aisles of our local Wal*Mart, we came across some amazing toys… the Backyard Safari collection. These toys are awesome! We purchased the Backyard Safari Binocs (for viewing birds and such in trees), Backyard Safari Spy Glass (for looking at tiny bugs BIG), Backyard Safari Critter Shack (for housing lizards, frogs, and other creepy crawlies), and the Backyard Safari Scoop Net (for keeping our hands safely away from hurting our bug friends)… which leads to my post… our friend Jimmy is turning 5 this weekend and instead of buying a pre-made card, I decided that Isabel and I would make an original! Besides our gift went with the “theme” on the card…bugs! I did the layout and word design. Isabel did the artwork and sticker placement (with a little help from me). Enjoy!

The outside of what Isabel calls…”bug party”.

Inside of our “bug party” card. I love the bug on the cake!
Happy Birthday, Jimmy!
