Get It Covered

Gino purchased this Tonneau cover a few weeks ago and is just now able to get it on the truck.

It’s covered.
Lightweight and yet tough enough to keep the rain and would-be-thieves out.

Getting a snug fit.
Need a nice warm sunny day to get all the trim to relax.

All finished!
With the tail gate locked it’s all secured. Looks great!

It can be folded up and secured for hauling tall items in the bed.

Book Slueth

This weekend we headed north to Ikea for some shopping and just to get out and exercise (lots of walking in that BIG store). One of our coolest finds was at the Goodwill.

A whole collection of Nancy Drew books!

The collection is from the 80’s publication and all the books are like new condition. There are only a few of the books missing from the collection (besides the few (not pictured) that we are reading now) and I’m sure we can find those few at the Goodwill or online.
Thank you Daddy for all the great books!

Isabel has been in literary heaven!

Western Terrestrial Garter

Or also known as the Wandering Garter snake.

I had no idea we had snakes in our area or neighborhood until today!

Isabel and I were driving back home from school when I noticed this reptile crossing the main road to our house. I thought ran it over but after stopping the car and getting out, we realized it was still alive. Luckily, I also able to get a photo with my camera too.

It’s a Western Terrestrial Garter snake (which means it’s not poisonous to humans)
and it can get up to 42 inches in length.
This one was a good size.

2013-10-23 002_edited-1I tried getting a picture of it’s bright red tongue but it was to fast.

Isabel wanted to pick it up but I told her I wasn’t sure if it was poisonous to us, so we just observed it and it watched us.

Winterized

Today we were able to get back outside to winterize the yard for winter and our rainy season.

Gino had ordered 2-yards of gravel 3 weeks ago and we didn’t get it all moved to the back yard before the first rainy storms moved into the area. With a break in the weather, we headed out to move the gravel from the driveway, mow the lawn, tend the flower beds, garden and get things put away for winter. Busy day but it was great to get outdoors again.

The gravel was added around the whole entire shed but we ended up with more then we needed.

2013-10-06 009_edited-1So we spread it out in the area across from the garden and then made a pile with the rest.

Donkey

On Thursday, we went out to eat and ending up supporting the local food bank as well. The proceeds from the day’s sales went to a local food back. Awesome!

We spotted this donkey supporting the food bank while we were there too…

2013-10-05 002_edited-1She’s actually laughing, as I’m laughing trying to take the shot!

The mouth piece is also a straw holder (not pictured) to drink with.
