Garden Update

Went outside this afternoon to do my daily inspection of the flower/vegetable gardens.

So happy that most of my flowers from last year came back, I only lost 4 plants to the nasty slugs! This year I’ve been keeping my eyes on all the plants for any signs of slug infestation! We have found a awesome safe/biodegradable product, called  Sluggo, to help keep the slimy things off the my flowers!

Our tiny jalapeno! Both of the plants are doing really well in the pots.

Our garden patch is doing great, just need to keep an eye out for slugs!

We did lose the lettuce last week to slimy pests. They slithered into the garden and had the lettuce wilted and gross in just a few days. Made me so mad!! The radishes have all been picked, they did so well. Next year we will have to thin them out better and maybe get a bit bigger ones. The carrot’s are getting bigger and longer in the dirt, I do need to thin them out more. They smell heavenly!! Can’t wait to sink my teeth into one!

The green bell pepper is coming along nicely and there is another one growing on the other side of the plant as well.

This is (from left to right) peas, tomatoes, and cilantro.

The tomatoes have really taken off since I put the wire guard’s in. The pea plant looks sickly because I just got it into the dirt a few weeks ago! I am hoping that it doesn’t die and gives us more peas. Believe it or not, we have had 3 pods off it and they were so yummy tasting the peas tasted like candy!

Photo Fix Up Part 2

As you can see (below) that I finally got my photos organized on my computer. That was a mess! Some photos were doubled and a few were triple saved!  I have no idea how that all happened but the mess is all cleaned up now and it’s so much easier to go through all the photos that we have. I will try and go back and add postings to all the days I have missed in the last month and a half! What a task ahead that will be! Wow!

We (Isabel and I) went on vacation last month to Utah for 2 high school graduations. It was so wonderful to see my family and spend time with them even for the short time together. This week, June 4-8, is the last week of Kindergarten. Isabel will be a first-grader by the end of the week! Yikes!! I am so sad to see her early years come to end but I know that she’s in good hands.

  • “Even a child is known by his doings.” Proverbs 20:11
  • “Depart from evil and do good.” Psalm 34:14
  • “Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.” Ephesians 6:1

God is only just beginning his wonderful work in her life and I can already begin to see His “fingerprints” in/on her life. I leave the work to him and continue to pray that as she continues to grow older, she continues to understand the importance of a relationship with Jesus is in her life.

  • “My son, give me thine heart.” Proverbs 23:26
  • “See ye the Lord while He may be found.” Isaiah 55:6
  • “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31

Life can get so messed up when we decide to go our own way and not let Him steer us where He wants us to go. Life is better when we follow His plan and walk with Him.

  • “Exceeding great and precious promises are given unto us.” 2 Peter 1:4
  • “Fear not, for I AM with thee.” Isaiah 43:5
  • Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.” John 14:6

Well, I have much to do and if I don’t get started the pile will just bigger. God bless and we’ll see ya soon…

New Dress for Chapel Thank You

While we were on vacation last month, Grandma and Grandpa bought Isabel some new clothes for school along with 2 new dresses for Chapel! I picked this one out and the other dress Grandma picked out. Isabel liked both.

It’s a black summer dress with a black/white ribbon sewn along the skirt. The ribbon was formed into flowers at different spots (see below). Very cute.

Since she can’t wear it like a sun-dress to school, I added the little white top, which worked out perfectly and then had her wear a pair of black long shorts underneath (which worked for running around at recess!).

Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for my new dress for Chapel! ~ Love Isabel

First Radishes of the Seson

Today when the sky was clear, we headed out to the garden to see how our veggies were doing. Other then needing to put some more slug bait down; everything looks great! The weeds really took off with all the rain we’ve had while we were gone. I need to get back out there and work around the box to clear the area so slugs don’t hide.

We have our first radishes! They were tasty!!
We have even had lettuce too.

Backyard

Our backyard grass didn’t make it through the rainy season this year (even with our french drain in place). We have to much clay in the dirt and which doesn’t let all the water drain from the yard. We’ve had a pool of standing water for most of the season. After the rains stop and the ground dries out…

We’ll work on it and hopefully get it back to normal. What a mess!

Photo Fix Up

How’s it going?

I haven’t fallen off the planet or anything. I’ve been busy organizing photos on my computer the last several days(and working).

Several years ago, I had started organizing the photos my own way and then changed my mind the other day to just go with a more simpler way. So now I’ve been changing the files that I had organized my own way. When I get that finished, I’ll be back to scanning and blogging.

Until then, enjoy going back to older posts and reading them all over again or for the first time! I know I have enjoyed going through my thousands and thousands+ of photos!
