Project: Storage Shed – Part 15

Gino’s been trying to get outside each night to do more work on the shed. But this week we’ve had a few rainy days so work has been delayed due to weather. I hope we can get this done before the real rainy season begins!

I try to help where I can. I tried hammering in the nails to the concrete board and I just don’t have enough force to do it. So he does the hammering all by himself.

In order for the siding to be under warranty we HAD to add the plastic sheets (can bee seen in the above photo).

The sheet sticks/staples to the wall and overlaps the lower board. The sheet is placed in line with the seams, if the seam should happen to separate, the plastic sheet protects against water damage by channeling the water down and away from the wall. Supposedly.

Flashing sheets for our siding.

I told Gino it looks more like a fancy playhouse then a shed!

  1. Either this is a large dog house or you’ve got a really neat storage shed. Maybe this is a dog house for Gino, now you can say you’re in the dog house. Great Job! You must be awfully close to getting this project done. Are you going to caulk along the ends of the lap siding to keep moisture from going in along the door and window? I was wondering too if you have any roof or soffit vents? Vents will be really good if you have any chemicals that put off fumes. Do you have any power out there for lights or fan? I guess you can always install a small battery type light or solar tube. This will add more value to your home too. I’m sure not many homes in your neighborhood have back yard sheds. Looking forward to coming up to see it. I’ll bet you rearrange the insides a few time before you get satisfied with all that your putting in it. Now I wish I had a shed like this. Again – great job!
