First Grade: Day 152

Today is Thankful Thursday and it’s P.E. with Mrs. S.

For P.E. they played hockey and pac-man in the gym.

Tomorrow Teacher Mrs. B will be back in class. Isabel said today was a better day for the substitute. Glad to hear that!

Today’s Teacher/Staff appreciation: a salsa bar in the staff lounge.

2 of my students gave me appreciation gifts after class today. I feel awkward when I receive gifts from my students but they enjoy giving them to me. The look on their face is priceless! So I will accept them with a cheerful heart and shower them with thanks and many hugs.

Daisy dreams about many things.
I’ll tell you some, treat(s), sleep, eat, and food.
Daisy always wants or dose (does) these things.
Plus she is a dog (I bet you know that.)
She also likes the sunshine on sunny days.

First Grade: Day 151

Today is Wonderful Wednesday!

Wednesday is music class with Mr. G. They are working really hard on their spring concert that is coming up next week! Can’t wait to see this performance since she was sick for the Christmas program this year.

Today and tomorrow Teacher Mrs. B is gone and a substitute is in her place.

Isabel said most of the kids in class were respectful to her but a few choose not to. 1 boy in class actually went home because of unwillingness to cooperate and be respectful to the substitute. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day for her and the class remember’s their 3 R’s.

Today’s Teacher/Staff appreciation: catered lunch and 1 hour lunch coverage to enjoy the catered lunch (for those who get 1/2 hour lunch).

This one I actually got to enjoy! I was able to get a plate of goodies before heading back to the classroom to relieve someone for their lunch break. My plate was yummy good and I enjoyed it.

My 1000 Post

My 1,000th posting has arrived!!

I am shocked that it’s here.

When we began this blog 6 years ago, I had no idea what to talk/blog about, let alone who’s going to read what I write!?! What do I have to say that is meaningful to those who read this blog?

Someone has been reading my words, most of those people have been family and a few friends. No one else has ever told me they read what I write, besides my own parents and they enjoy it. My father skims through the postings, mainly looking at the pictures and my Mother reads each one through. So someone does read it!

In those 6 years, I have really begun to enjoy blogging. I feel terrible if, I miss a day. This is my journal, about our lives and what we do. Some day, Isabel will be able to look back and read what she did on this and this day. She may even get a few laughs out of it and say, “Hey, I remember doing that!”

What I hope she gets most out of my words/blog, is that I love her very much. I want her to look back and remember those times that she has forgotten when she’s older. So she can sit at her dining room table (eating dinner) and tell her kids about the time she did this and the time she did that. Just like she enjoys doing with Daddy and I now and hearing about when we were her age.

So what I write is for her… remember to have faith, put your hope in Jesus. He loves you more. Laugh and enjoy this website.

First Grade: Day 150

Today is Terrific Tuesday and it’s Chapel and library.

Today’s Chapel was giving by Pastor Comstock who spoke from 1 Samuel 2 and 3. God spoke to Samuel while he was sleeping. God had a message and a plan for Samuel’s life. Samuel choose to obey God because he trusted him. God calls all of us to humbly commit to his purpose. We can then choose to honor God in our lives, as Samuel demonstrated to us.

Today she got another Berenstain Bears book but she hasn’t brought it home yet. She left it in her tub at school.

Today’s Teacher/Staff appreciation: popcorn bar and fruit smoothies in the afternoon.

First Grade: Day 149

It’s Marvelous Monday!

Marvelous Monday means All-School Open. The Monday morning assembly for announcements and other fun stuff for the week. This week is Teacher/Staff Appreciation week. The week is going to be filled with goodies in staff lounge all week long! There is even going to be a Bingo game with assorted prizes to be won by those teacher’s and staff  that play the game.

I am working this whole week subbing and working in my own classroom. So I’ll be able to enjoy some of the love/appreciation that is shared throughout the week in the lounge.

Today’s Teacher/Staff appreciation: muffins, bagels w/cream cheese and fruit (like a brunch) in the lounge. Beverages were provided as well.

First Grade: Day 148

Today is Fantastic Friday!

Today is just a normal Friday and we haven’t had one of those in over 5 weeks! No half day. No spirit day! No school day! Just a normal full day Friday! Wow!

We are down to our final 6 1/2 weeks of school. The end is coming fast and yet we still need to keep going strong and not get lazy. Summer will be here before we know it!

Today was better day for Isabel and her friends. They all got along and Isabel says that she became better friends with the older girl in class. They actually played together and got along much better then they have in the past. So please keep praying that the girls will continue to show Respect to each other, be Responsible and be a friend (Relationship).

First Grade: Day 147

Today is Thankful Thursday and it’s P.E. with Mrs. S.

During P.E. today the class played “sharks and widows“, “pac-man” and ran in around the gym 4 times. Isabel got a scratch above her elbow while playing “sharks and widows“. I had to put a bandage on it for her to go to bed because it was scrapping the sheets and making it burn a bit.

There is a girl in class that is older then everyone else, because she was held back to first grade (she should be in second). Well, this girl is mean to Isabel and other girls in class. She is bossy and says things to hurt their feelings. Isabel and I have had conversations about how we can help them all get along but Isabel is struggling with it.

I have seen how this girl acts first hand, when I was on recess duty a few weeks ago. Her social stills are not the best and she tends to act younger then her sister, who is kindergarten. I have told Isabel to walk away and go find something else to do, if she begins to bother Isabel. We still need to show her love but just walk away. So just pray that Isabel will remember these things we’ve talked about and still show her love even when it’s hard and she’s not being a friend (Relationship), showing Respect, or being Responsible enough to act in the way she’s supposed to. (the 3 R‘s)

Smart Award!
Isabel got this smart award sticker today for being 1 of 3 in class to answer a money question.

Teacher Mrs. B asked if anyone knew the answer, “How much money is: 2 quarters + 2 dimes + 2 nickels + 2 pennies?” The class had to figure out the total money count without writing down the answers on paper! Teacher Mrs. B asked several other money questions and only 2 others in class gave the correct answers and they got a smart award sticker too. Way to go!
