Nana Sends Gifts

When Preston and Lexci came to our house after visiting Nana and Pompo in Utah. They brought some gifts from Nana for Isabel.

Nana sent her bread-presses, joke CD’s with booklets, clothes and a bed cover. Isabel’s favorite thing… the bed cover!

First thing this morning she asks if she can try it on her bed.
Thank you Nana!

Girls Can Engineer

Last year Gino told me about this new company that is creating toys for girls to get them thinking about other things besides being a “princess“.

Well, I’ve had my eye on the toys at Target and when I noticed they were all on clearance the other day. I bought all 3 kits.

Today with nothing else to really do, we got out our first kit: building a parade float (and other cool stuff).

The parts to our kit include: 1 book and miscellaneous building parts.

Her first words… “Oh, this looks interesting!”

After following along with the story in the book we come to our first project build:
a pageant/float seat.

Using the exact same pieces… Isabel’s seat is on the right and my seat is on the left.

Isabel beginning to build the parade float from the book.
She’s focused on her work.

She finished!
(this is just one of examples from the book)

I tried getting her come up with a different float idea, not in the book, but she didn’t want to, today, maybe tomorrow. The book also mentions adding a paper banners to the float and I know Isabel would be interested in doing that. She’s always cutting out things and assembling them into larger paper art projects. The ideas are endless!

In Need Of Something

Notice anything missing around our house?

We had our lawn taken out!

We hired a man to come and clear out the north side of our backyard on Tuesday (the 2nd of July) and we decided to put in sprinklers in the front and backyards. So out came the yucky grass. Next weekend (the 12th of July), another gentleman (and his crew) will come and add the sprinklers to the front and backyards.

This is the yard BEFORE the lawn was taken out.

We’ve had terrible grass ever since a lawn service we had hired several years ago over-seeded with a yucky grass type. Now, we will put in good grass.

After lunch we all headed to Seattle to show the kids (Preston and Lexci) downtown and the Needle!

Fish Bowl Ornament

Isabel made this fish bowl ornament for Preston.

She used all blue molding clay. She got the color like in the fish and the rim of the bowl by coloring the clay with a marker. She would then mix the clay and then shape it into the desired shape. The fish is from a molding clay mold. She had started working on it a few days ago and today it was finally dry and ready for him to have.

I loved it so much I had to get a picture of it.
She really took her time making it, a lot of love went into her gift.
It’s beautiful.

Northwest Trek – Preston And Lexci Visit

Today I took Preston and Lexci to Northwest Trek. Today was a good day to get out and see the animals because they were ALL out! We even saw 2 (both female) of the 3 moose (the other is male) in the park!

We even got to see a huge flock of Canadian Geese that were grounded due to their molting feathers. We saw all the babies that were born in earlier this year. It was a great visit!

I didn’t take pictures of the animals because I already have pictures of the animals!

I took 1 photo…
