It’s Resurrection Sunday

We had a rather wet Easter. It started raining around 5 a.m. and continued on and off throughout the whole day. At times it would just pour down.

She was going to wear a hat but then decided not to.

Easter gift: Boz the Bear book!

Her new Boz® book.

Isabel’s Easter gifts were a new book (of course) about Boz® the bear (www.bozthebear.com), Playdoh® and a stuffed animal friend, Uniqua®, from the show the Backyardigans®.

Crayola Color Wonder Fingerpaints

This week has been all about coloring with the use of crayons, colored pencils, and finger paints!

Today we sat down and used this wonderful new product by Crayola® it’s called Color Wonder Finger Paints®. The “paint” is the texture of Carmex® and you apply it to special paper with your fingers and the color appears only on the special paper. It’s great (see updated note below!).

Isabel had a fun time and is really proud to be showing off her latest artwork.

UPDATE! January 17th 2010: If you should be in the market for anything (paints/markers) Color Wonder, be forewarned that the colors do not last! I was planning on saving them in a scrapbook for Isabel and the color was gone! All that was left was a oily mess. So they ended up in the trash. At least I have the photos of our day together.

Spring Bug And Scrapbook

We have been such slackers on our site but I got sick over the weekend of the 8th and 9th.

It started out as a scratch in my throat that morning and by the early evening I had the chills. The following days produced a fever-up to 100.7, chills, sweats, a cough, aches and pains, and an earache. By Monday evening, Gino had picked it up too. He stayed home all last week with about the same symptoms as me, only difference was his temperature lasted longer then mine did. He ended up going to the Dr. on Friday or Saturday. Come to find out this terrible “bug” was going around. Gino got some antibiotics and is on the mend.

Both of us just have a cough every so often. Spring time “bugs” sure aren’t the nicest way to celebrate spring. Luckily, Isabel didn’t get it to bad, only a runny nose and tiny cough. We kept a close eye on her temperature and made sure to keep her drinking liquids.

A package from G.G. arrived today with a scrapbook for Isabel!
Thank you G.G.!

She Was M-A-D!

Isabel went to the doctor today for her 2 year wellness check; she was not happy. As soon as they called her name and I began to push the stroller back into the exam room she was already saying “no-no, no-no”. To make matters more stressful, I had to take her clothes off and put a gown on. She didn’t want to be weighed. She didn’t want the nurse to check her height. She got extremely mad when the nurse drew her blood (from her toe). She started thrashing about on the table, screaming bloody murder! The nurse held her feet while I did my best to hold down her torso and her arms! She’s STRONG! After the doctor came to do his exam of her, things went from bad to worse. I tried my best to hear and answer all the questions he had for me. It’s a little hard when you have a toddler screaming in your ear and trying to climb over your head to get away from the really scary man! And if things couldn’t get any worse for my little girlie, she had to get 3 shots! Isabel received her fourth DTap (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), first Varicella (chickenpox), and first Hepatitis A. It just breaks my heart to see her like that and I totally understand what she’s thinking and feeling! Like I’ve mentioned before she remembers everything…her 5 days in the hospital last year! She was so tiny and still is. Isabel is in the 10 percentile for her weight (the doctors children are too!); she weighs around 23 lbs. Isabel is in the 50 percentile for height; she is 34 inches. Otherwise she’s doing wonderfully. She only had one ear infection last year, besides a few colds that we tackled together (if she gets one-I get one or visa-versa).

So it’s been a bit rough for my little girlie today…she’s sleeping now…thankfully. Tomorrow will be better…it’s supposed to be sunny (again!). Woohoo!

As I Try To Cut Off My Finger

DSC09158_edited-1

Don’t ask me how I did it, and Thank you God, it didn’t need stitches!

Last Friday night, I was out in the garage cutting boxes with a box cutter, to fit into our recycle bin. I was just about finished when I look down and notice blood, which immediately started to run down my hand and drip on the floor. Somehow I managed to get into the house, while still holding onto the device that had just sliced through my thumb.

Gino turns around and says “What did you do?”

He steers me into the bathroom when I begin ranting of really needing to lie down (before I fall down). He proceeds to use hydrogen peroxide to clean out the cut for a better look. He mentions stitches sometime after the screaming stops and I begin my ranting of really needing to lie down.

He tells me to sit on the toilet lid.

By now, I have a toddler staring at me, with eyes larger then the moon and a dog that feels the need to sit on my lap of all places! Gino mentions again the need for stitches if the cut doesn’t stop bleeding. He wraps it with gauze and I somehow make it out to the living room floor where I finally lie down. The next morning, we pull off the bandage, when the cut begins to bleed again. We decide to head over to the Care Clinic; the doctor checks my thumb. Luckily, I didn’t need stitches but I did need to get a tetanus shot.

That I could handle… sort of, better then stitches… just imagine if I had cut my thumb off!

Delightfully Sunny Day In The Park

We had a (very rare) sun shiny day today!

Actually, we have had a few sunny days the past several days…don’t get to excited though; we are supposed to be back to normal rainy weather tomorrow. Oh, I can’t wait for summer!

Isabel and I spent the morning running a few errands. I’ve been on the look-out for an Easter dress for Isabel and I haven’t had any luck. They are either white (I don’t understand why a manufacturer would make toddlers clothes with this color!) or pink. I did see a checkered-seersucker, black and white dress with a yellow ribbon and daisy flower embellishment on the upper chest. I thought about getting it but then decided it really wasn’t all that Easter looking. Maybe, I’m too picky. So the hunt continues…

Anywho, we spent the early afternoon, up at our little community park. Isabel had a blast! There is a toddler slide/gym and an older kid’s slide/gym (no swings). When we arrived at the park there were some older kids that were a bit rowdy with their game of “tag” but did keep out of Isabel’s way and we stayed clear of them.

Neighbor’s dog. Seemed friendly but we didn’t touch.

One of the girls, that was at the park, had brought along her little dog with her. Isabel had wanted to pet him/her so much! We even found a ball, that I believe had been left by someone prior to us using it. Isabel wanted to play “fetch” with the little dog but the dog was too small and the ball was too big. We played a few rounds of “catch” until Isabel got distracted and went back to the slides.

She’s got that tongue working!

Isabel did rather well going up the stairs and down the slide. I did notice that she would watch the other kids and see them walk up the slide and jump down from the top. I believe she wanted to try this! A few times she had me worried but I would remind her to sit and she would do so without protest.

Big smiles!

Peek-a-boo!

It was a rather fun time during our sunny day weather! We are back at home and as I’m typing this the clouds have already begun to move in and take up residence in the skies over head. I have to remind myself that by Easter it should be clear skies again…ya right.
