School News: Letter N

I think this morning Isabel would have rather wanted to stay in bed or snuggle with me. She just didn’t have the energy to get going however we did make it to school on time. It looks to be a nice day out with maybe some sunshine poking through the few clouds that are out there hanging around.

Today, in class the Bible story came from Mark 4:35-41 and was about Jesus calming the storm. Isabel said her favorite part of the story was when Jesus was sleeping on the boat and when all the people were gathered around him to wake him up.

This is Isabel’s version of Jesus calming the storm.

I had to share her name writing page today. I was very impressed with how well she did and when I commented on it. She told me that she made the “l” to look like a pickle! Silly girl!

The letter “N” is for noodle. Isabel also says that “N” is for neck and nest.

This is her completed volcano from Monday’s class! They used vinegar and baking soda to get it to “erupt”.

Isabel said that she didn’t want to make her volcano “erupt”, so with the help of today’s Mommy helper, she got it to.

The special helper today was Aiden. For show and tell, he brought a Buzz Lightyear and Woodie interactive action figures. Isabel said she saw that before so she wasn’t all that interested and I told her that it is important to Aiden because he brought it to class, so you need to show him respect and pay attention while he’s talking about it. Even if you’ve heard/seen it before, maybe Aiden has something new to say about Buzz and Woodie. She didn’t say much after that, so hopefully next time she’ll give it some thought if it’s something she’s seen/heard before. For snack Aiden shared with the class, breakfast bars and apple juice.

School News: Its A Secret

I was going to be the Mommy helper in class today but after eating a bowl of cereal with Isabel this morning, my stomach got upset. Evil hamburger!

Isabel really didn’t tell me anything about her day at school. She mentioned that they made volcano’s out of cups and white homemade molding clay and said they are going to finish them later. They worked in their alphabet journals, with the letter “N”. I have forgotten about their journal writing, which is done each Monday with the letter of the week. When I asked her again later what she did today, she told me it was a secret. So this is it!

Today’s special helper was Devan. For show and tell, he brought a yellow car that made noise. For snack Devan shared with the class string cheese and juice.

School News: Letter M

Today was a gorgeous day outside; the sun was out with no clouds in sight! It was warmer in the sun but the temp only got up to about 42 by the time I went to pick Isabel up from school.

When I arrived she immediately told me about everything they did today. She was talking so fast that it was hard to keep up! By the time she told me everything, I looked up and most of the parents and other kids were gone. After gathering up all her papers, we headed to the office to get our copy of the Christmas program in December. I’ll have to see about posting it…

Today was Chapel at school. They heard the story of Elijah being fed meat and bread by ravens in I Kings 17. Which I was excited to hear about because Isabel and I had just read this story during our devotional time at night!

The classroom was rearranged again today! They even had a new rug (which I didn’t even notice!)! Isabel says that the new rug is a bunch of different shapes and colors. There is even a star on the rug for the special helper to sit on when they are using the rug.

The new board for this month, with the “homework” from Christmas vacation. Can you find Isabel’s snowman?

The letter “M” is for marshmallows and monkeys! For this project they didn’t use glue…they licked the marshmallows and stuck them on! Isabel thought this was so cool and she got to eat a few too!

Pizza box painting with a marble. Isabel liked doing this project too but not about seeing what the paper looked like afterward but more about what the marble looked like afterward!

The special helper today was Payton. For show and tell, Payton brought a pretty pink ring. For snack, Payton shared with the class string cheese, craisins, and juice.

A Car

Yesterday while Isabel was home from school in observation of MLK day, she made a car…

Isabel with all her friends in her car that she made… Later in the day she was driving and got in accident with another car. She ran to get Daddy to help her fix it! He put gas in her car, fixed the tire (took a nail out) and helped her get out of a ditch too. The ambulance didn’t have to come because everyone was O.K. She was able to get back on the road and drive safely the rest of the day with all her friends.

School News: A Wee Little Man

I just realized today that I didn’t do a “School News” for Wednesday! Shame on me. Well, I can’t remember what went on…maybe Isabel can.

This morning when we arrived at the classroom, there were balloons (more on this later!) and the room was rearranged, that was the first thing Isabel noticed. It wasn’t that big of a change but it did take her focus off of writing her name.

Today’s Bible story was from Luke 19 and was about Zacchaeus; a little man who became BIG in the Kingdom of God. Isabel cut out the tree but NOT Zacchaeus in the tree. She’s doing so well with her use of scissors!

This is a salt and paint, painting, which was completed a couple days ago but was able to come home today.

Isabel said that the balloons in the classroom this morning were for Mrs. Calvert, whose birthday is tomorrow! Happy Birthday Mrs. Calvert! Isabel said that they sang, “Happy birthday” to her and during free play, Isabel made her a birthday cake with molding clay.

The special helper today was Eden. For show and tell, Eden brought…Isabel couldn’t remember. For snack she brought to share, crackers and yogurt covered raisins with water to drink.

School News: Letter L

So, going back over the school day from Friday, I finally remember a tiny bit of what Isabel told me on Wednesday about her day in class. I have got to remember to sit down and work on this on the actual day that it happens! Otherwise, we forget…

Today they worked on the letter “L“, as for lamb.

The special helper today was Addie. For show and tell, Addie brought a black horse named Fluffy. Addie let all the kids pet Fluffy during class. For snack Addie shared something, we just can’t remember. I guess it’s better then nothing!
