Mr Wobbles Takes His Exit

After church was over Isabel came out of Sunday School and said her loose tooth was hurting. When she showed it to me, it looked puffy and bloody. I told her she must have hit it or wiggled it so much that she had pulled the skin that was still attached to the tooth causing it to bleed. Told her to leave it alone for now and it’ll come out when it’s ready…

As we headed down to the valley to the pumpkin patch, we took a wrong turn and ended up east of where we needed to be. So we stopped at McDonald’s and got some lunch before heading to the patch.

Now you see it…

While we were eating, I was trying not to laugh because her little tooth was moving like a swing! Back and forth! Back and forth! Back and forth; and then… She was eating her French fries when she got this weird terrified look on her face and I asked if she was alright. She said, she thought she lost her tooth. So Gino had her spit out everything in her mouth. Sure enough, her tiny tooth popped out!

Now you don’t!
(Sorry for the messy face, we were eating lunch)

Kindergarten: Day 37

This weekend is going to be a busy one. We are looking forward to heading to the pumpkin patch and picking out a few pumpkins. So happy weekend!

Opening activity was lower case “Cc” practice. Isabel used a light green crayon so it’s hard to make out.

Aa” practice.

Back: more “Aa” practice.

Isabel was going to tell me all about her day after lunch but the day was completely forgotten about with the discovery of Isabel having her first loose tooth! We were so excited about it we didn’t talk about school the rest of the day. I did learn that it was free choice Friday but I didn’t hear what Isabel choose to do.

Wiggle. Wiggle. She’s got the tongue wiggle down!
She named her first loose tooth Mr. Wobbles.

Kindergarten: Day 36

We got our car back yesterday morning! It was at the dealership for 2 days but the problem wasn’t all that major. The button that connects the washer fluid to the wipers was broken. A quick fix and it was all good. We even got the work and part covered under warranty! Praise the Lord!

Again, not much was said about Isabel’s day at school. She couldn’t remember she said because she had such a busy day!

I did learn that one of the boys went home sick before Isabel left to go home. Also the Bible story was about the story of the city and their tower or otherwise known as the Tower of Babel from Genesis 11:1-9.

She also told me that Mrs. Boettcher’s dad was back home from the hospital but would have to return next week (I’m thinking for testing). Will keep the family in prayer.

The opening activity was a blank page sitting on the desks.
Isabel drew 2 pumpkins on each side of her paper.

Just Drawing

I got this idea off the internet about drawing and building confidence drawing with a pencil. No colors/crayons, markers, colored pencils, or paint. The picture could be as large as you wanted but had to be on the paper, front or back.

So Isabel and I sat down this afternoon and just drew. At first she didn’t want to draw without colors but after she “saw” the idea, she got on board.

We took turns picking an item to draw. We couldn’t see each others paper until after we were finished drawing. We drew 11 pictures and then looked at our drawings. Enjoy!

1. a cake (Isabel’s turn)
2. a rocket (my turn)
3. a cupcake (Isabel’s turn)
4. a whale (my turn)
5. cookies (Isabel’s turn)
6. a rollerskate (my turn)
7. a pizza (Isabel’s turn)
8. a flower (my turn)
9. a house (Isabel’s turn)
10. a Lego (my turn)
11. a ruler (Isabel’s turn)

Isabel’s cake took up one whole side of her paper. Great job!

The other side of her paper with the 10 other items.

My page with the 11 items I drew.

I loved seeing Isabel’s page after we were finished! Seeing the “coloring” that she did with just the use of her pencil. Great work! I will have to keep doing this at least once a week or so. Building confidence not only in her artwork but mine as well.

Kindergarten: Day 35

This morning we all headed out to school because the car is in the shop from yesterday. Gino walked Isabel into class, while I stayed in the truck. Afterward we drove down to the dealership to see about the car and learned that the whole motor, button, and connection were bad! Yikes!! They told us they would have to keep the car until tomorrow at the latest because they didn’t have all the parts. So we headed across the street to rent a vehicle for the day.

While Gino headed north to Seattle, I spent the morning strolling through 2 Goodwill’s scouring the shelves for some great books. I found 5 great ones for Isabel and 2 for me! I so love a great book! I’ve been reading a lot of Karen Kingsbury lately and I’m in the middle of the Bailey Flannigan Series. The next book in the series doesn’t come out until next month and the final book doesn’t come out until March! So I’m trying to be patient until then. Hurry up spring!!

Anyway, after school Gino called and said the car was ready for pick up. The original diagnosis was wrong it was only the switch that was bad! Woohoo! So he’ll return the rental and get the spork this evening!

Isabel didn’t tell me much about school today. She told me about recess and how she played with Madeline, Reese, and Emma. They played babies and Isabel was a baby. Her mommy was Madeline.

Mrs. Boettcher was back in the classroom. Didn’t learn if everything was O.K. with her dad though. She didn’t bring home any paperwork… I’m hoping Gino can get some more out of her at dinner! We’ll see.

Kindergarten: Day 34

Today as we were heading out to school, I realized that my wipers weren’t working. Luckily it wasn’t raining and the frost had melted enough to wipe off. Later Gino checked out the fuses but that didn’t turn up the cause for not working. He had to take the car down to the shop. They looked at the car and decided that they needed to dig deeper, so tomorrow they will look further under the hood.

Around 10 the sun came out and resulted in a gorgeous day! Isabel and I were able to dust (literally!) off our bikes and ride around the block. What a great day to ride!

Today was Chapel at school.

Mrs. Boettcher wasn’t in the classroom after school. Isabel told me that she left the classroom early when she got word that her father was in the hospital. Hopefully it’s not to serious…

Opening activity was capital letter “Cc” practice.

Back: (bleed through!) A Cat in a Canoe!

More “Cc” practice.

Back: high-frequency word usage “Ii“. Isabel drew that she likes rainbows, candy, carrots, and a stick. Yup, that’s about right!

Kindergarten: Day 33

We had our first frost last night! Luckily I didn’t have to scrap the windows on the car before heading off to school. We need to get that garage space cleaned up!

I also finally figured out how to scan documents from my printer again. I can no longer use my printer program but have to use a website for the printer. It works, just requires a few more steps in getting the pictures posted to the website. Bear with me as I get this figured out and go back to see a few older posts to see new scans that I took for last weeks school work.

Isabel was excited to tell Mrs. Boettcher about the things she made over the weekend. When she went to tell her though, she forgot! Mrs. Boettcher was asking her all kinds of questions as to what she had made that was sticky. Like did you take a hike and get tree sap on you? Did you have pancakes with syrup? Isabel forgot what to say because she was giggling so hard!

Lower case “Pp” practice was the morning activity.

Back: this one scanned weird, don’t know why. She drew a pumpkin.

Homemade Slime Or Gak

This weekend must have been the weekend to stay at home and make homemade food and slime or gak.

I had found the recipe online several weeks ago and thought it would something fun for Isabel to experiment with…

We used 1 cup of liquid starch and 2 bottles (and a bit) of glue, which works out to be 1 cup also.

Stretching out!

Hand mold.

Mold.

More stretching.

Her snowman…in July!

She’s having to much fun!

Gak string.

New heights in stretching!

After playing with it for about an hour she spent the next hour covering her arms with it. What great fun we had with our slime or gak!
