Tee Marie Valdez

Tee Marie Valdez went home to be with the Lord on Monday, June 8th, 2009. She was born on June 16th, 1924 in Las Tablas, New Mexico to Rosendo and Agapita Cisneros. Tee married Eddie J Valdez on February 22nd, 1942 in Monte Vista, Colorado. They had 10 children.

Tee worked as a nurse and also an owner of a few businesses, including Loco Taco in St. George, Utah. She loved to minister and share her faith with everyone. She was a prayer warrior and loved spending time in the Word of God. Her prayer and dream were to see all her family come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Tee also loved to cook, garden, travel, embroider, cross-stitch, and bargain shop.

Tee loved to hear her family have fun and laugh. She enjoyed making others laugh by playing practical jokes. It has been an honor and privilege to have her as our mother. We will greatly miss her and we treasure our memories. But, rest assured we will see you one day in Heaven.

Surviving family include:
Paul Martinez, of St. George, Utah,
Silvie S. Valdez of North Salt Lake, Utah,

Crying leads to laughter and…always continued prayer

If you don’t know, Contemporary Christian artist, Steven Curtis Chapman and family experienced a very devastating accident at the family home one year ago today. That involved older brother Will Franklin and the death of their youngest adopted daughter Maria. Since hearing the news on T.V. last year, I have prayed, wept, and laughed as Mary Beth, the mother, has graciously opened her heart on her blog about the pain of losing a child and struggling with a tragedy she doesn’t understand. Today, continue to pray for the family on this one year anniversary and that through this tragedy all the grief and sorrow will reflect back to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ…there is HOPE…

National Day of Prayer

Today is the 58th Annual National Day of Prayer.

Mission: is to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, mobilizing the Christian community to intercede for America and it’s leadership in the seven centers of power:

1. Government
2. Military
3. Media
4. Business
5. Education
6. Church and finally
7. Family

~~~~~~
The National Day of Prayer Task Force (I didn’t even know there was one!) seeks to:
1. Foster unity within the Christian Church.
2. Protect America’s Constitutional Freedom’s to gather, worship, pray, and
speak freely.
3. Publicize and preserve America’s Christian heritage.
4. Encourage and emphasize prayer, regardless of current issues and positions.
5. Respect all people, regardless of denomination or creed.
6. Glorify the Lord in word and deed.
~~~~~~

You can find the history of the National Day of Prayer here.

A quick summery…
1775: The first Continental Congress called for a National Day of Prayer (NDP).
1863: Abraham Lincoln called for such a day.
1952: Congress established NDP as an annual event by a joint resolution, signed into law by President Truman.
1988: The law was amended and signed by President Reagan, designating the NDP as the first Thursday in May.

~~~~~~
Fun Facts…
** The President of the United States has called for a National Day of Prayer every year since 1975. Read what the current President has to say here.
** There have been 134 national calls to prayer, humiliation, fasting and thanksgiving by the President of the United States (1789-2008).
** There have been 56 Presidential Proclamations for a “National Day of Prayer” (1952-2008).
** Gerald Ford (1976) and George H. Bush (1989-1991) are the only U.S. Presidents to sign two National Day of Prayer Proclamations in the same year.
Today Is
For Christmas this past year, I bought a 2009 calender and turned it into a scrapbook of sorts for Gino with pictures from 2008 and I also added crazy holidays to each month and/or day and today is…
Mother Goose Day!
Purpose: To re appreciate the old nursery rhymes that we all grew up with.
Motto: “Either alone or in sharing, read childhood favorites and feel the warmth of Mother Goose’s embrace.”
Isabel has several different copies of the traditional Mother Goose rhymes and I’ll be sure to snuggle up and read her a few of my favorites! I’ll even read several favorites from the Christian Mother Goose as well!
The important thing is read to your children, whether from these classic favorites or newer ones! Enjoy the day!
Gotta Wear Gloves
This morning I was busy cleaning the bathroom while Isabel finished up her breakfast and when she was done, I cleaned her up and let her down to play. She immediately headed to the bathroom and I proceeded to tell her to not go in. She obeyed and sat down on her potty, which was just outside the door while I cleaned. She sat while I began to clean the floor and then realized what I was doing and wanted to know if she could help. I told her no and then explained to her that the products I was using to clean the bathroom were harmful to her (and to mommy for that matter) and that mommy needed to wear gloves to protect herself. So Isabel left mumbling about gloves and protection from the chemicals. She appeared again a few minutes later looking like there was a blizzard outside…
Gloves and a hat to protect her from the chemicals!
“Can I help clean?…PLEASE!!!!!” she says
