Birthday Original For Jimmy

I have decided that shopping for a boy (for his birthday) is a lot harder then shopping for a girl! When shopping for a boy, you have two choices, action figures or cars. THAT IS IT!!! When shopping for a girl, your choices are endless! SERIOUSLY!!!

With that said, I am not a parent that follows the “crowd” or the “trend” in toys. I am NOT into buying my daughter princess garbage (Or telling her that she is one! She is NOT!) or Barbie/BRATS/Zombie High junk either. Furthermore, I am NOT into buying boys action figures and cars (I must admit I have bought them as gifts though)! That is ridiculous!

So when Isabel and I were walking the aisles of our local Wal*Mart, we came across some amazing toys… the Backyard Safari collection. These toys are awesome! We purchased the Backyard Safari Binocs (for viewing birds and such in trees), Backyard Safari Spy Glass (for looking at tiny bugs BIG), Backyard Safari Critter Shack (for housing lizards, frogs, and other creepy crawlies), and the Backyard Safari Scoop Net (for keeping our hands safely away from hurting our bug friends)… which leads to my post… our friend Jimmy is turning 5 this weekend and instead of buying a pre-made card, I decided that Isabel and I would make an original! Besides our gift went with the “theme” on the card…bugs! I did the layout and word design. Isabel did the artwork and sticker placement (with a little help from me). Enjoy!

Happy Birthday, Jimmy!

A Car

Yesterday while Isabel was home from school in observation of MLK day, she made a car…

Isabel with all her friends in her car that she made… Later in the day she was driving and got in accident with another car. She ran to get Daddy to help her fix it! He put gas in her car, fixed the tire (took a nail out) and helped her get out of a ditch too. The ambulance didn’t have to come because everyone was O.K. She was able to get back on the road and drive safely the rest of the day with all her friends.

Giraffe

Yesterday, while Gino and I were working on getting the attic better organized and cleaned out after Christmas, Isabel was working with some leftover wood blocks and dowels making different things… Enjoy!

Isabel and her wooden giraffe. She also made a house, which accidently got knocked over while I was taking trash out to the dumpster, so I didn’t get a picture of that. She later found a “basket” of sorts, with some help from Daddy and went “shopping” for wood trying to get Gino and I to buy some.

New Clothes

I was going through some boxes of clothes from when Isabel was younger and found her old hats and hair accessories. Isabel was with me and asked if she could get a new outfit for Sally. So Sally got new socks, 1 new outfit, several hats and hair accessories.

Isabel loves Sally in her new outfit, hat and hair band.

Snowflake Craft

Today with more rain in the forecast, we spent the early afternoon working on a coffee filter snowflake craft. I had never heard (Gino said he’s heard of it – I must be out of the loop!) of using coffee filter’s but after reading about this easy idea online, I thought I would let Isabel (also get’s more practice with scissors – bonus!) give it a try. So I got out our scissors and even the hole punch and we got to work cutting and trimming. It turned into a huge success! Enjoy!

Folding her filter. “This is fun.” she says.

Her finished snowflake filter.

Our work-in-progress, I’d like to fill up each of the window squares with our snowflakes. Which shouldn’t be a problem because she really enjoys this craft!

One of Isabel’s coffee filter snowflakes.

I thought this was one of the best snowflakes that Isabel did.

Gino even did one!

This is one that I did.

Another one that I did; I really like the way it turned out with the crosses and hearts.
