Today is Friday and it’s the class field trip to NW Trek. The excitement for this day has reached peak levels. The kids just want to get going!

I enjoyed driving Isabel, 2 of her classmates and Teacher Mrs. A, even if the day was a soggy wet one.

Before the walking self-guided tour we went on the guided tram ride and saw…

Bison with 4 babies (1 baby was less then a week old!)
Black-tailed Deer
Mountain Goat
Roosevelt Elk
Woodland Caribou
Trumpeter Swans
Canadian Geese
Ducks

We missed seeing…
Bighorn Sheep and the
Moose

With the downpour, I was only able to get a picture of the grizzly bears and they were fighting.
They were in a foul mood with the rainy cold weather.

All the other animals were hiding in their dens or taking shelter wherever they could get out of the rain.

We saw…

Grizzly Bear
Gray Wolf
Lynx
Bobcat
Badger
Beaver
Fisher
Porcupine
Raccoon
River Otter
Striped Skunk
Wolverine
Bald Eagle
Golden Eagle
Pacific Giant Salamander
Gopher Snake
Western Toad
Rubber Boa

We missed seeing…
Red Fox
Coyote
Cougar
Barn Owl
Snowy Owl
Turkey Vulture

We took a break in our tour and the girls worked on their assignment for the day.
This trip was all about habitats and the animals that live in them.

My group of girls with Mr. Mishy and his brother Bo.
We’re soggy and wet but we had fun and hopefully learned a few things about the animals we saw.

Second Grade: Day 150

Today is Wednesday and it’s Chapel!

Isabel said Pastor Shawn talked in Chapel today. He talked about never giving up, even when you feel like it; try again and again.

Back in the classroom, they talked more about mammals today and the field trip. After the field trip the whole class will be working on a mammals project that will be due in 4 weeks. We’ll learn more about this mammal project Friday.

Today was RTI training (special training/teaching that groups (mixed aged) kids together with the same learning level). Isabel and Ms. Reece go to Ms. Mila’s class, while the rest of Isabel’s class stays in the classroom. Today the RTI class worked on a “directions” assignment (see below).

Read the “interviews” and draw a description of what you think the “monster” looks like.

Isabel’s version of what the “monster” looks like from the “eye-witness accounts”.
So cute! I love when she draws!

After school, she was excited about getting an invitation to Ms. Mila’s birthday party in June.

Second Grade: Day 149

Today is Tuesday and it’s A.S.O. (all-school open) and music class with Mr. G.

Today was library, there was no music class and no A.S.O. (all school open).

Isabel said that Teacher Mrs. A, talked about the field trip park, Northwest Trek. She told stories about the different times that she’s been to the park and talked about the different animals the class will see on Friday.

Isabel didn’t mention anything else about her day at school. She’s looking forward to the field trip on Friday.

Second Grade: Day 148

Today is Monday it’s music class with Mr. G. However Isabel said they didn’t have music class today. Mr. G is preparing for the 4th-6th grade spring program on Thursday.

This week’s Bible verse is…

“Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ, God forgave you.” – Ephesians 4:32

S.a.T. (show and tell) this week is free choice.

Since today is Isabel’s share day she took her Useless Information book.

Also, this week the class will be learning the capital cursive: C”, “E” and “D“.

Isabel brought home her castle project from art class.
They were to follow directions, starting with drawing a rectangle. Directions were given to complete the castle.

This art project was started a month ago and the class worked on it on and off over the weeks. Isabel said that she got to choose and draw her own background. She did an awesome job!!

Happy Birthday Sydney

Isabel went to a swimming birthday party today for one of her classmates, Sydney.

There were about 20 kids or so at the party and we had the pool to ourselves.

Isabel did a great job being in the water by herself with her vest on.

Happy Birthday, Sydney!

Pumping

Isabel told me a month ago that she final has learned how to pump her legs on the swing at school!
I was so excited for her because I know how exciting it can be learning to doing this. You can go as high as you want, you don’t need to be pushed, and you feel like you can fly!

A few weeks later, Ms. B, from the school office snapped this ADORABLE shot of her on the swing!

That’s our girl!

Isabel also told me that she only swings on the yellow swings, not the black ones because her hair gets caught in the chain with the black swing. OUCH!!

Spring Program: King Of The Jungle

Tonight was the school’s spring program.

It was awesome.

Isabel was on the far side of the room from where we sat. Which was good because we could see her but bad because she was so far away!
This was the only photo I got where Isabel was smiling.

The performances were great. Jungle Jean (girl in safari hat) had a LOT of lines to remember and she did great! She also had 2 solo’s! The choir (all those standing on the risers) sang 8 songs total.

The King’s Animal Kingdom
Lord of Creation
King of the Jungle
The Wild Worship
Bullfrogs and Butterflies (with kindergarten class as the B & B’s)
Noah’s Ark
The Lion’s Den
The Lion and the Lamb in Me
