The Christmas Tree Hunt

This morning we headed south to the tree farm to hunt down our perfect Christmas tree.

This is our fourth year going on the hunt and today was a gorgeous sunny cloudless day!

The temperature wasn’t ideal at only 24° but that made for some quick picking. We were in and out in about an hour.

Ice crystal patches that were every where on the ground.
Would have gotten closer if I had the better camera with me.

Daddy’s already cutting it down in the back and to the left.

Now it’s time for some frozen yogurt!

Second Grade: Day 64 – Half Day

Today is Friday and it’s a half day due to a teacher work day.

Isabel didn’t have much to say about her day. She did say that her class had a visit from the second/third grade combination class, who came to sing Christmas carols to them.

While teaching in my class, I had heard the kids singing to the office staff as well. The combination class had gone around campus singing to all the other classes. What an awesome blessing and gift to give to your fellow classmates!

Second Grade: Day 63

Today is Thursday and it’s P.E. and piano lessons after school!

Isabel has been looking forward to piano class all week. She want’s to show her teacher that she can play the whole first verse of Jingle Bells.

My Project 3-001_edited-1 After class her teacher told me she was excited that Isabel had caught on to the song so quickly.

She didn’t tell us anything about her day at school. She was super excited about piano class.

Second Grade: Day 62

Today is Wednesday; it’s Chapel and library.

Chapel was about God’s purpose for everything. Everything got started in Him and finds it’s purpose in Him. Colossians 1:15:18

  • You are not hear by chance.
  • You don’t have to go and get a purpose – it’s already in You!
  • God created and designed us with a specific purpose in mind.
  • God has a special job for each of us to do.
  • God has a plan right now!
  • In order to know what Your purpose is – read God’s word, pray and spend time with Him!

What a great sounding message.

My Project 1-001 (10)_edited-1

Isabel switched it up this week in library she got a new series of books about a mouse detective. She had been getting the Box Car Children series but has decided to go with something new.

She hasn’t read this series before but I’ve heard they are great books.
She’ll be reading this one as her after school reading homework.

They will be wearing black pants and clean sneakers. A shirt will be given to them. The older kids will be wearing hats.

Isabel didn’t mention anything else about her day except…

She’s already looking forward to it and told me she wants to win again. She’ll get the word list next week and then the real fun begins!

Second Grade: Day 60

Today is Monday and it’s the first Monday of December! Wow! This year went by so fast. Check back on old postings (listed below) to see what our year was like. What a year of blessings we have had!

Isabel didn’t have a very good day. Her tummy was being weird and she got kicked in the chest during recess (it was an accident). After school she seemed to be doing better. I did give her an antacid before bed because she said her tummy was being weird again.

This week’s Bible verse is…

“Honor your father and your mother.”
“You shall not murder.”
“You shall not commit adultery.”
“You shall not steal.”
“You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.”
“You shall not covet.”

This week they are going back to the story of Moses and the Israelite’s. They will be tested on all ten commandments that were given to Moses.

Today was music class with Mr. G., during class they worked on the Christmas program music and hand motions. The program is scheduled for the 19th.

S.a.T. this week is free choice.
