Second Grade: Day 52

Today is Monday and it’s a normal full week of school!

Today is music class with Mr. G. Isabel didn’t fill me in about what they did today.

This week’s Bible verse is…

“You shall have no other gods before me.”
“You shall not make for yourself an idol.”
“You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God.”
“Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.”

For the next 2 weeks the class will be going over rules; rules at home, rules at school, and rules in the community. They will be using the Ten Commandments to liken to the rules that are established at home. Just like the Ten Commandments, or God’s rules, provide safety and efficiency of an entire nation. Rules in the home provide safety and efficiency in the home. Sounds like a great lesson!

The Bible verse ties in with the Bible lesson for the week which is the 10 commandments.

S.a.T. (show and tell) for the week is to share something you are thankful for. However, we didn’t discuss it before school, so hopefully she shared something she’s thankful for (she didn’t – no one did).

The spelling words for this week are…

bar

Last week’s S.a.T. (show and tell) was about Grandparents. Isabel had to fill out this small booklet about them. She had to call them on the phone and ask them questions about when they were kids. She really enjoyed talking to them on the phone (always does) and hearing their answers about when they were her age.

The booklet below is from a project (early book report?!) they did over several weeks about a book they read together in class. Teacher Mrs. A had them complete the booklet at their own pace, there was no time limit. They were told to draw pictures and write a title for each page about the book.

Isabel did a fantastic job on her booklet but needs to keep up the enthusiasm and momentum to the end of the project. As you can see by the end of her project, she isn’t putting as much effort into it as Teacher Mrs. A had hoped she had at the beginning. Teacher Mrs. A and I had talked about this booklet during parent/teacher conferences last week.

Lipoma Removal

First thing this morning (before school) Isabel and I dropped Daisy off at the veterinarian for surgery.

She was getting a lipoma removed, her teeth cleaned (none removed), and a few skin tags removed. She came home around 5:30 p.m.

Her incision looks great.
She looks terrified because she hates her picture being taken.

We have to watch for redness, oozing, and make sure she doesn’t scratch it. In 2 weeks I will take her back to the veterinarian to get the stitches removed.
