In The Kitchen: Kabobs And Slaw

With starting FPU (Financial Peace University), we are becoming more aware of the money being spent at the grocery store and eating out.

So we have taken Dave’s advice and started a meal plan for each week. Dave recommends a website to help you with that but after some research on our own. We decided against his recommended site and chose another.

This is our first week on the new meal plan and we went with a 6-night plan and opted for a “free” day for leftovers and for a day if plans change…

Tonight’s new (to us) menu items were:

Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs and Apple Coleslaw.

2013-03-05 020_edited-1 Nice and hot; just off the grill!
Chicken, sweet bell peppers, and a bit of sweet onion. They smelled so good!!

The coleslaw was sure easy to make and was yummy too!

2013-03-05 026_edited-1Time to eat!
We added dried cranberries to the slaw after serving. YUM! YUM!

First Grade: Day 113

Today is Terrific Tuesday with Chapel and library.

This morning I didn’t have to scrape windows before leaving for school. Hurray! It was 10 degrees warmer then yesterday morning!

I had to take a picture of her this morning because she looked very nice in her Chapel attire for today!

Isabel said they took 2 math tests today. She said they were easy.

Today for Chapel the speaker was Pastor Holden. Isabel couldn’t remember what he talked about and I wouldn’t find out until Friday, when the campus newsletter comes out.

The Bible story lesson in class was about Saul becoming King.

Today’s social studies lesson was on travel/transportation: then and now. Isabel said they talked about trains and travel safety.

First Grade: Day 112

It’s Marvelous MondayWhich means All-School Open.

It was cold out this morning when we left for school, it was only 27 degrees out! However it did warm up as the day went on and it turned out to be a lovely day!

I had to scrape the frost off the windshield! Surprising to me. We were just talking about how mild our winter has been just yesterday. I haven’t had to scrape the windows on the spork maybe only a handful of times this winter. I like that!

******* REMINDER!!…NEXT SUNDAY WE “SPRING” AHEAD 1 HOUR!! *******

This week’s Bible verse is…

“If anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.” – Philippians 4:8b

*******       *******       *******       *******       *******

Today was NOT a good day again for Isabel. I won’t go into details but this time her punishment will help her to remember to think before doing it again. We are still at a loss as to WHY she did it. I’m praying that this doesn’t become a habit for her. Because she was trying to hide (she knew it was wrong and yet did it anyway) what she did wrong and nothing was said when it took place on Friday and it wasn’t brought to our attention until today, Monday.

Classwork…

Today the class went into the gym to fly their flying disc’s. Isabel was disappointed that her’s didn’t go very far when it was her turn to fly her own. She said it was to heavy for the air to lift into the air. I think she just needs some practice on how to throw.

We are getting new tires tomorrow. After shopping around Gino got a price match at Walmart for tires he found online that saved us from paying way to much at the tire store. We ended up saving almost $400! Way to save!
