Kindergarten: Day 122

Today is the first day of Spring! I know in my household we have been waiting for this day to arrive! I also think a certain bird outside this morning was just as excited about that fact too. It was singing a song so loud and for so long! Spring is here! Get out and get active! Enjoy!

Today is Chapel Tuesday.

The superintendent at school spoke about forgiveness. Ephesians 4:32 reminds us that we are to be kind and compassionate to one another, tenderhearted, and forgiving one another as Christ Jesus forgave us. A lack of forgiveness often hurts us more then the other person. Every one makes mistakes. Sometimes it is harder for us to admit we are wrong and ask for forgiveness. What a great lesson we all need to be reminded of!

Dice math. Role the dice, write down the 2 numbers you get and then add them up!
Fun math!!
Isabel didn’t get this finished in class so Mrs. Boettcher  let her bring home the dice and pig plate (to roll the dice on) to finish. She was working on this while I was heading out the door to work.

Writing practice for the letter “Bb“.

Kindergarten: Day 121

Not much was said about school today except for the fact that she found a dime. Actually it was Audrey who found the money but she gave a dime to Isabel.

The opening activity was just a coloring page of dinosaurs.

They did work on writing their numbers. Isabel did a great job with this.

Back: writing practice for the number 6.

They also played a game with numbers and the end result was a picture of a kite!

They also played the dice game again. I’m not sure Isabel understands the whole concept because she only made a pattern on her paper.

It was all-school-open as well, but Isabel didn’t mention anything about what was said or what they did.

Kindergarten: Day 120

This morning Isabel and I headed to school together. It was only a half day for everyone and I was working in Isabel’s class today because Mrs. Boettcher is out sick. Mrs. Kelso was running the show…

The opening activity was a dot-to-dot of a Pteranodon (ter-ann-uh-don).

We opened class with a the flags/Bible pledge, a lesson on the seasons, months, and days of the week, and prayer. We then proceeded over to the church to view the cake entries for the school fun carnival tonight. The money raised from the sale at the auction will help improve the playground at our school.

Afterward we headed back to class for snack-time before heading out into the gym for P.E. For P.E. we did a few beginning warm-ups, like run in place, arm circles, and jumping jacks. While the kids were being divided up into 2 groups, I helped Mrs. Kelso set up large bowling pins around the gym. The object of the game was for 1 team to knock over the bowling pins and the other team to stand them back up. After a few minutes for running around, the teams switched and whichever team knocked over now stood them up and whichever team stood them up now knocked them over. We did this for about a half hour or so and it was so fun to see the kids working together to get the most knocked down or stood back up.

After P.E. we headed back to the classroom to finish snack-time before heading over to Mrs. Seal’s room for music. The class was in music class for about 30 min. while Mrs. Kelso and I were preparing for a Saint Patrick’s Day lesson/craft.

When the class returned from music class, Mrs. Kelso gave a lesson on Saint Patrick, while explaining how to do our craft.  Each of the kids cut out 2 shamrock’s and then we attached them to pipe-cleaners and then a crown. Afterward we had all the kids gather together for a group photo to send to Mrs. Boettcher.

The whole class with their shamrock crowns!

Before heading home, the class had free-choice Thursday (usually on Fridays). Most of the kids colored/cut/taped/stapled with paper, a few did computer games, or played with the dinosaur table.

We were home by 12:30 and that gave me time to eat lunch and relax for an hour before heading back to work to close.

I didn’t get this photo until the next day because of work yesterday afternoon.

Kindergarten: Day 119

Today is Wednesday and that means show-and-tell for the boys. They were told to bring something green. Only 3 of the boys brought something, 3 of the boys forgot to bring something and 1 of the boys has been out sick all week. Jayden brought a green car, Nevan brought a green light saber, and Vincent brought a tiny stuffed green turtle.

The opening activity was a dot-to-dot of a Heterdodontosaurus
(het-er-uh-don-toe-sore-is).

Phonics work for the letter “Vv“.

Back: writing practice for the letter “Vv“.

Writing practice for the letter “Ss“.

Back: On School Street we get to slide and swing in the sun!

Today for recess, they stayed in the gym and play “Doggie Doggie Where’s Your Bone” and Isabel got to be the doggie at some point. The class really likes playing this game (and I know the preschoolers do too!).

Kindergarten: Day 118

No school for Isabel today. I kept her home due to weather and her complaining her ear hurt.

I however worked today. I worked from 11 a.m.-6 p.m. I worked with the “lunch bunch”, gave several people breaks, and took my own lunch, before heading to my classroom for the day. It was a long day but I had a surprise waiting for me at home!… Gino fixed my desk top computer! The hard drive was fried!! DEAD!! Luckily, he was able to get a bit more life out of it to get my over 36,000+ or 100 gigs of photos off! So very very THANKFUL for that!! MY HUSBAND ROCKS!!!

Kindergarten: Day 117

What a weekend! We had rain, snow, sleet, hail, a bit of sun and WIND; lots of wind! It was hard to get to sleep for Monday with the blowing wind and with the time change over the weekend. Ugh!

I got an early morning call this morning to come into work this morning. I worked in the Pre-K class and we had 11 kids. We did pledges, did an art project (made a rainbow with the kids hands), had music with Mrs. Seal (fun!) and even got to go outside for 10 min. to run around. The kids were great and all got along well. I work again tomorrow with the “Lunch-Bunch” (haven’t done that yet!) and the extended classes until closing.

Isabel didn’t say much about her day at school. She told me all about recess though. Her “best-friend” Nevan and her made “rock slush”. Isabel says that it’s a type of rock soup. They used pine needles, rocks, and water to make it. They used sticks to stir it all together. They mixed this all together in the tires (used to get to the monkey bars) on the playground. She said if they get outside again tomorrow, they were going to finish making it before “eating” it.

The opening activity was a dot-to-dot of a Edaphosaurus (uh-daff-oh-sore-is).

Phonogram with “ap” sounds.

Back: Sentence building.

Review of letters “Gg”, “Jj”, and “Qq”. Awesome job with writing!

Back: Fill in the missing letters.
Not so good filling this in, she wrote her “Gg'” backward and then wrote “Gg” for “Jj”.

Lots for kids were absent today, Isabel’s class had 4 kids out and my class had 3 kids out and the teacher. Hopefully it’s nothing serious and they are all back to class tomorrow!

Mrs. Boettcher let Isabel borrow a book again today. She picked out Dr. Seuss’ “I Am NOT Going to Get up Today!”. We are both looking forward to hearing the story.

After looking through Isabel’s paperwork, she told me more about her day. They worked with the die again, like on Friday. They rolled the die and wrote down the numbers they got until it was time to finish. Isabel’s paper showed that she got all 6’s when she rolled her die.

Isabel’s paper from her die rolling.

The class also practiced writing out their numbers.

With so much practice lately, Isabel has really improved on her number writing. She gets them all written down in the right direction. Way to go!

Her homework reading book, is “The Little Pie“. We’ll take 2 days to read it through several times and then return it to be tested on and get another one. Lots of great “sight-words” to read in this one.

Kindergarten: Day 116

I had to work today and didn’t get the inside scoop and by the time I was able to ask, it was to late…

Writing practice for the letter “Uu“.

I think she forgot to do this side.
Back: In Upside-down town Uma and Uri are Up and Under an Umbrella.

Die rolling math match. Roll the dice and fill in the space for the number you rolled. Isabel ended up rolling more 4’s.
