Kindergarten: Day 33

We had our first frost last night! Luckily I didn’t have to scrap the windows on the car before heading off to school. We need to get that garage space cleaned up!

I also finally figured out how to scan documents from my printer again. I can no longer use my printer program but have to use a website for the printer. It works, just requires a few more steps in getting the pictures posted to the website. Bear with me as I get this figured out and go back to see a few older posts to see new scans that I took for last weeks school work.

Isabel was excited to tell Mrs. Boettcher about the things she made over the weekend. When she went to tell her though, she forgot! Mrs. Boettcher was asking her all kinds of questions as to what she had made that was sticky. Like did you take a hike and get tree sap on you? Did you have pancakes with syrup? Isabel forgot what to say because she was giggling so hard!

Lower case “Pp” practice was the morning activity.

Back: this one scanned weird, don’t know why. She drew a pumpkin.

Cc” practice.

Back: more practice with the letter “Cc“.

This week’s Bible verses:

“Gg” – “God is love.” 1 John 4:8

“Ff” – “Fear not for I am with thee.” Isiah 43:5

“Ee” – “Even a child is known by his doings.” Proverbs 20:11

“Dd” – “Depart from evil and do good.” Psalm 34:14

“Cc” – “Children obey your parents in the Lord,  for this is right.” Ephesians 6:1

“Bb” – “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” Acts 16:31

“Aa” – “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Homemade Slime Or Gak

This weekend must have been the weekend to stay at home and make homemade food and slime or gak.

I had found the recipe online several weeks ago and thought it would something fun for Isabel to experiment with…

We used 1 cup of liquid starch and 2 bottles (and a bit) of glue, which works out to be 1 cup also.

Stretching out!

Hand mold.

Mold.

More stretching.

Her snowman…in July!

She’s having to much fun!

Gak string.

New heights in stretching!

After playing with it for about an hour she spent the next hour covering her arms with it. What great fun we had with our slime or gak!

Banana Bread

This morning Isabel helped me make a loaf of banana bread. She chopped the walnuts and dumped in all the ingredients into the mixing bowl. She even kept watch of the mixer as it mixed the ingredients.

From the moment we began until I was pulling it out of the oven an hour or so later she was asking for a slice. This photo is from Monday morning since I forgot to take a photo before we ate it. So yummy good!!

Kindergarten: Day 32

Today was Grandparents day at school. The school had a program with Pre-K, Kindergarten, 2nd grade, and 5th grade students. After the program, the grandparents headed to the gym to have lunch with their grandchild(ren).

Since Isabel’s Grandparents don’t live in the area, I went to record the show!
I’m not the best recorder, it’s kind of jumpy… Enjoy!

Kindergarten: Day 31

Today is a my 600th posting!!! I can’t believe that I have posted that many stories. Do I really have that much to say?!?!

Today we rushed out the door just to make it school on time.

Today was picture day at school. Isabel’s class had their pictures taken first thing. Afterward they went into the church sanctuary to practice their program for Grandparents day tomorrow.

Isabel said that they had a small recess and she played with Taylor.

(No photos until I can get my printer program working again… sorry).

Kindergarten: Day 30

This morning the sun was shining as we headed off to school. We slowed down again by the ponds and got to see the geese (and a lot of ducks) in the ponds again. Isabel said they were having breakfast together as a family before heading off to work.

The first thing Isabel had to tell me about when she got out of class was Presley getting hurt on the playground. Isabel said she didn’t hurt Presley but someone else had. Isabel said at first she was worried about Presley’s fingers because they were all red. Luckily though, it wasn’t blood it was just fingernail polish.

The Bible story was the conclusion of Noah.

(No photos until I can get my printer program working again… sorry).

**UPDATE! (10-17-2011)**

The opening activity.

Back: a dinosaur (this dinosaur has no face because it is looking away from you!)

Practice with the letter “Pp“.

Back: more letter “Pp” practice.

Kindergarten: Day 29

When Isabel and I headed off to school this morning it was raining really good. We also noticed in the ponds along the road 40 – 50 Canadian geese! I slowed down to a crawl and we watched them for a minute before continuing on our way to school.

Today was Chapel. Pastor Shawn gave the message today. He started the message off with a bit of science. He took a match and lit some paper, he then placed the burning paper in a jar. Next he took an egg and placed that over the mouth of the jar and with a loud pop, the egg was in jar! Isabel thought it was neat but didn’t like the loud pop sound. She covered her eyes when he brought the egg back out again. During Chapel she sat by Mishy until he had to move, then she sat by Audrey.

The opening activity was “Pp” practice.

Back: “Pp” is for popcorn!

The class did more MAP testing today. Isabel said she got all the way to the end with the puppy barking. The Bible story in class was the conclusion of Noah. Noah sent out the dove and Noah, his family, and the animals got to get out of  the ark.

Isabel got to go to the front of the class and build a pattern with the tools Mrs. Boettcher provided. She said she used white and black squares with holes in the them to make a patterned telescope.

Back: 4 practice.

There was no recess today because of Chapel and the MAP testing. Isabel was a bit disappointed but seemed to get over it with the way the weather was today. One minute it was sunny and bright, the next cloudy and dark, followed by a down pour of rain then next. This continued all day. She called it a “wacky-weather” day and I agree!

We also got a mini progress report on how she was doing. S
e meets all the requirements! Way to go Isabel!!!

Back: Her handwriting has improved.

This week’s Bible verses:

“Ff” – “Fear not for I am with thee.” Isiah 43:5

Kindergarten: Day 28

This morning we were cautious as we approached the main intersection. Over the weekend someone had redirected the traffic after adding painted lines to the road. Well, Saturday someone got “t-boned” just up the street and then this morning there was evidence that the same thing had happened in front of our intersection as well. So I was cautious pulling out across the road to get to the other side…

After school, Isabel was very excited that they were able to go outside to play for recess, since it had been raining all morning long. She said they had to go a different way because there was a large puddle, as big as Noah and the ark, she said. During recess her and Taylor played birthday again. Today it was Isabel’s birthday. They made a cake out of rocks, sticks, and pine cones.

The opening activity was practice with slanted lined.
She did a great job coloring the page afterward.

Pp” practice.

Back: more “Pp” practice.

Letter review “Rr“, “Ss“, and “Tt

Back: letter review “Mm“, “Rr“, and “Tt

The class went to the all school open and they got to see Clifford the Big Red Dog and a Large Brown Mouse. She really liked seeing Clifford. She enjoys reading his books whenever she gets a chance!

They also worked on their Grandparent program that is scheduled for this Friday. She said they got to go up on stage.

During class time they heard more of the story of Noah, his family, the animals, and the waters rising higher and higher.

Number review.

Back: number review with simple addition.
(Her paper is wrinkled because somehow it got wet during class.)
