School News: Ran Out Of Time

Today when I arrived back at the classroom to pick up Isabel, she acted like she wasn’t pleased to see me… and she wasn’t. She had a rough morning and was not happy about the day ending at school.

My understanding is that the class was given on opportunity to make necklaces for their mothers (Mother’s day gift) and while they were making the necklaces Isabel had to go to the bathroom. When she got back to the classroom from going to the bathroom, free play had already begun and Isabel needed to finish her necklace. So she finished it and that cut into her free play time and she wasn’t allowed to join the others for the same amount of time as what they had. She was upset because she didn’t get to play with her friends and wanted the chance to play all day with them at school for the rest of the day!

After talking with her and getting her back into a slightly better mood, she then popped up and said she had to show me something! She then took me over to the play-kitchen area and showed me a very pretty wooden baby cradle that looks as though someone made for the class and the baby dolls. She seemed to be in a better mood after showing me this and then proceeded to “hide” the necklace she made for me. After rounding up all her paperwork, giving hugs to Mrs. W, we finally left the classroom after everyone else had left for home.

The May bulletin board with the flowers from April.
Can you find Isabel’s flower? I’ll give you a hint… it’s under Jesus’ feet.

The academics board for May. Isabel really likes this one, she says it’s very colorful and pretty. May is a review of all the numbers, colors, shapes, and letters that they have learned over the entire school year.

When I asked her what the Bible story was about she said it was about a man and a lady going to see Jesus. There were people taking Jesus somewhere, she couldn’t remember, and the man and the lady got to see Jesus.  She asked me if I had heard that Bible story before and I told her I’ve heard a lot of Bible stories about Jesus but that one sounded new.

Today they got an extra long recess time outside. The class got to play in both the courtyard and the the playground. When I asked her who she played with she said she played with everyone for a little bit.

With my Mother’s Day thumb-print flower.

“This little flower is special, you see,
Because it was made from a part of me.
My painted thumb made each flower part
To show I love you with all my heart!”
Happy Mother’s Day!

The special helper today was Emily. For show and tell Emily brought 2 small stuffed dogs and a large stuffed reindeer. The reindeer had a light-up nose and sang. For snack Emily brought to share, Spider-man® and Tinker-bell® fruit snacks and juice. The Tinker-bell® fruit snacks had birds and acorns on them.
