First Grade: Day 120

Today is Thankful Thursday and it’s P.E. with Mrs. S.

For P.E. they played crab soccer. Isabel said she didn’t like it at all! Her arms, legs, and back hurt. She also felt like she was getting “carpet burn” on her bottom!

They also had computer lab again (went yesterday) today and did more AR testing. Isabel didn’t say how many tests she took today.

This week she only missed 2 on all of them.

First Grade: Day 119

Today is Wonderful Wednesday and it’s music class with Mr. G and computer lab with Mrs. T.

Isabel said they are practicing for a spring program! First time that I have heard of this!

For computer lab, they did AR testing.

Isabel had an accident with her homework after school. Her water bottle leaked all over inside her backpack! Oops! So I had to use the blow dryer to get the soggy sheets dry so she could do her homework. Everything is a bit wrinkled but that’s OK.

We found her take home folder from yesterday. One of her classmates had picked it up and taken it home! She got it back and only had to 2 extra pages of homework for tonight.

First Grade: Day 118

Today is Terrific Tuesday with Chapel and library.

I asked Isabel this morning to get something different during library today. Lately she’s been getting Disney books, which is fine but not a very good reading challenge.

2013-03-12 001_edited-1

She brought home “Ivy + Bean; What’s the Big Idea?”
This book finds the girls going to the science fair and they want to do something different.

Isabel forgot her homework folder, so I don’t have any pictures to post today.

Pastor Shawn was the speaker in Chapel today. He told the kids a funny/scary story about when he was a kid. He lit the garage floor on fire, no damage was done but his name is permanently burnt into the floor!

I did get some pictures from yesterdays A.S.O.!

First Grade: Day 117

It’s Marvelous Monday! Which means All-School Open.

It’s been a gray day around here. No rain, just lots of clouds.

At A.S.O., Isabel’s name was drawn for a “shining R” award! She was able to go to the office and pick a prize. This is the third time her name has been drawn for a “shining R“.

2013-03-11 018_edited-1

She picked a N.E.D. eraser.

2013-03-11 016_edited-1

Her prize!

Isabel told me on the way home from school that our 4th grade teacher at school, Mrs. M didn’t have such a great day today. Teacher Mrs. M had 7 students get sick in class! They all went home. I hope what they have stays at home with them and it’s NOT passed around to us! Yikes!!

2013-03-11 006_edited-1

Isabel finally got her Reading Award.
I was beginning to wonder when she was going to get it.

The school is getting closer to their goal of 50,000,000 words for the year. Collectively they have read a total of 20,958,972!

In The Kitchen: Pork Tenderloin And Zucchini

Tonight’s menu selection was another good one!

Pork Tenderloin, Zucchini Boats on the Grill and Brown Rice

2013-03-09 002_edited-1

The tenderloin was great and the zucchini boats were awesome!
Isabel even loved them!

We didn’t get to finish grilling the meat or the “boats” because we ran out of propane in the middle of cooking. Gino had to bring it all in and finish everything up on the stove and in the oven . No big deal, it was all good!

In The Kitchen: Meatloaf And Cauliflower

As we finish up our week on our meal plan we have another new (to us) menu item:

Turkey Quinoa Meatloaf and Rockin Good Smashed Cauliflower with Garlic

2013-03-08 003_edited-1

The turkey meatloaf was better then what we have had in the past with turkey meatloaf.

The smashed cauliflower was defiantly different! Not bad, just different. I thought it was great that they didn’t taste like cauliflower because I’m not a fan of cauliflower. So it’s a great what to eat it! Also,  I was in charge of the carrots (not in picture) and completely forgot about them, so that’s why there is a “gap” on my plate.

First Grade: Day 116

Today is Fantastic Friday!

It was a good week for everyone, better then the past 2 week’s for Isabel. Teacher Mrs. B said she was a lot better this week and we hope that it continues to be better for her as the year continues…

Today was mid-term and Isabel is doing very well academically, just needs to work on her interaction with others. So we are working on that!

Back: crossword!

This week the class has been talking about “Simple Machines“. All week she was asking to take a crowbar to school! Daddy couldn’t find his, so that didn’t happen, maybe next time.

Today they finished up the lesson…

2013-03-10 014_edited-1

Front: Learning about “simple machines“.

2013-03-10 015_edited-1

What is a simple machine?
A simple machine is a lever, a pulley or a wheel and axle.

2013-03-10 016_edited-1

For the class activity Teacher Mrs. B got the whole class a simple machine; a pinwheel. Isabel’s is blue!
The class also did an activity with 2 turtles too.
