Second Grade: Day 24

Today is Monday and it’s music class with Mr. G.

Isabel said, in music, they practiced for their Christmas program and that the program is about a mystery.

This week the class is learning how to change the “y” to “i” and add “ed”. Isabel says she doesn’t like having to do that because it’s just to confusing. I told her once you practice it enough you’ll get the hang of it.

This week’s language arts book is: “Days with Frog and Toad” and naming the parts of a sentence. All week they will be doing assignments to learn the sentence parts.

This week’s Bible verse is…

“The Lord your God is with you, He is mighty to save.”
– Zephaniah 3:17

When I asked her what she said about them. She said, she told the class she’s had them since she was little. She has 2 of them because she lost one in a store once and Momma didn’t want me to be sad, so she got me another one. She also sleeps with them both every night (mostly). She didn’t get to say a whole lot and couldn’t remember what else she said.

The Bible lesson this week is about Moses and the first 9 plagues of Egypt.

Winterized

Today we were able to get back outside to winterize the yard for winter and our rainy season.

Gino had ordered 2-yards of gravel 3 weeks ago and we didn’t get it all moved to the back yard before the first rainy storms moved into the area. With a break in the weather, we headed out to move the gravel from the driveway, mow the lawn, tend the flower beds, garden and get things put away for winter. Busy day but it was great to get outdoors again.

The gravel was added around the whole entire shed but we ended up with more then we needed.

2013-10-06 009_edited-1So we spread it out in the area across from the garden and then made a pile with the rest.

Donkey

On Thursday, we went out to eat and ending up supporting the local food bank as well. The proceeds from the day’s sales went to a local food back. Awesome!

We spotted this donkey supporting the food bank while we were there too…

The mouth piece is also a straw holder (not pictured) to drink with.

Second Grade: Day 22

Today is Thursday and it’s P.E. with Mrs. S.

For P.E. the class was divided into 2 groups.

The first group rode on scooters at one end of the gym. Going backward, forward and on their tummy. They had to share their scooter with a partner as well.

The second group, at the other half of the gym, played basketball. They had to see how many times they could throw the ball and make a basket. They had to share the ball with a partner as well.

Isabel enjoyed P.E. but didn’t like scooting backward on the scooter. She did make 9 baskets when she and her partner played ball at the other end of the gym.

Second Grade: Day 21

Today is Wednesday and that means Chapel and library.

Chapel was lead by Mr. Holden. Mr. Holden shared about being slaves to sin and how it can entangle our lives. Several students were able to demonstrate the necessity and power of following directions and how that can lead to positive outcomes. Thank you Mr. Holden for this awesome lesson.

During library Isabel got a “magic tree house” book and together she read it to me over the next several days as her reading homework.

She does such an amazing job reading aloud. She doesn’t like the idea of having to read aloud but she is doing great just needs to remember to slow down and read clearly. Hopefully as she continues with this homework assignment she grows more confidently reading aloud.

Second Grade: Day 20

Today is Tuesday and it’s music class with Mr. G and the new day for A.S.O. (All School Open)!

Isabel didn’t tell me about her day today. After school she went into the extended program (E.P.). She enjoys going into the E.P. but I always miss hearing about her school day.

While she was in E.P. I had a staffing meeting to attend so I didn’t get to see her until after 5 p.m.

Isabel got her dictionary I ordered for her last month today.

LOVE the idea of her having her own but NOT liking some of the words
that are included in a CHILDREN’S dictionary!!
