Second Grade: Day 67

Today is Wednesday and it’s Chapel and library.

My Project 3-001_edited-1

Chapel today was given by Pastor S., who asked the question, “What does Christmas mean to you?” Christmas means wait, trust, and celebrate!

Wait is anticipation that Christmas is coming just as the Israelites anticipated the Messiah so long ago.

Trust is trusting God.

Celebrate is the opportunity to celebrate the precious gift given to the world when Jesus was born.

My Project 3-001 - Copy_edited-1

For 1 week the sixth grade class has had a peanut butter and jelly drive for a local area food bank. Each class (K-6th) was challenged to bring the most jars. The first grade class won the challenge by bringing 159 jars! The class will have a root beer and pizza party next week!

The total school results for the PB&J drive was 369 jars of peanut butter and jelly collected! What a huge blessing to all the families that will benefit from the sixth grade class drive.

Second Grade: Day 66

Today we awoke to snow. It actually snowed last night before I went to bed but Isabel was super excited to see it.

2013-12-10 003_edited-1Not a lot but enough for Isabel to say she wants a snow day.

Today is Tuesday and it’s again music class with Mr. G. Yesterday Isabel said they practiced in the sanctuary of the church.

Reading Award from November.

She didn’t bring home any school work only her award.

Gym

Isabel made this picture earlier this year or late last year, not really sure when, but it’s been hanging on her bulletin board in her room for awhile and I’ve never thought to look at the back.

Today when I went to clean up the board, I flipped over the page and found this delightful artwork!

The front page just reads gym.

The back has lovely drawings of what I can only image is Isabel at the gym doing exercises.

Last week’s 10 commandments test.

I need to get a video of her singing the awesome song that Mrs. A, taught the class to remember the commandments. I think that helped her tremendously learn the order of each one.

Today was a sad day at school. Our twin boys Mr. Ben and Mr. Nathan are leaving for Belgium with their family. Their parents have been doing missionary work there and have gotten funds to head back. The family is leaving on Thursday.

Isabel is very sad to see them leave since she likes both boys.

Please pray for this family as they continue to do the ministry work they have been called to do in Belgium.

Mr. Nathan (left) is in her class this year and Mr. Ben (right) was in her class last year.
We will miss you Mr. Ben and Mr. Nathan, may God watch over you and your family. God bless.

The Christmas Tree Hunt

This morning we headed south to the tree farm to hunt down our perfect Christmas tree.

This is our fourth year going on the hunt and today was a gorgeous sunny cloudless day!

The temperature wasn’t ideal at only 24° but that made for some quick picking. We were in and out in about an hour.

Ice crystal patches that were every where on the ground.
Would have gotten closer if I had the better camera with me.

This is the one!
Daddy’s already cutting it down in the back and to the left.

2013-12-07 005_edited-1She’s all smiles. We got our tree and she got a cane.
Now it’s time for some frozen yogurt!

Second Grade: Day 64 – Half Day

Today is Friday and it’s a half day due to a teacher work day.

Isabel didn’t have much to say about her day. She did say that her class had a visit from the second/third grade combination class, who came to sing Christmas carols to them.

While teaching in my class, I had heard the kids singing to the office staff as well. The combination class had gone around campus singing to all the other classes. What an awesome blessing and gift to give to your fellow classmates!

Today is Thursday and it’s P.E. and piano lessons after school!

Isabel has been looking forward to piano class all week. She want’s to show her teacher that she can play the whole first verse of Jingle Bells.

My Project 3-001_edited-1 After class her teacher told me she was excited that Isabel had caught on to the song so quickly.

She didn’t tell us anything about her day at school. She was super excited about piano class.
