Out With The Carpet

We had to wait a few days for the flooring to arrive which was nice because the room was able to air out from the new paint smell. We just opened the window and shut the door!

Out comes the carpet.

Carpet and padding gone from half of the room.

The carpet completely removed.

I’ve got to get to work removing all those staples in the floor from the padding.

After prepping the floor, Gino lays the floor padding; for tomorrow he lays the wood!

We went with the same flooring that we used in the den 2 years ago just a different color; Almond Hickory. It really tones down the purple that was starting to cast purple out the hall and down the stairs! Yikes!

Tumbling Tykes: Day 19

Today was a great day for tumbling/gymnastics! A lot of new exercises were introduced and a few old ones were brought back!

After warming up, the kids were doing the CHICKEN LIMBO!

Ms. Mo had them hold their back (just above their hiney), lift their chin, and bend their knees slightly. While leaning back they were to do the CHICKEN LIMBO!

The class has dwindled down to just a hand full now. Hopefully it will continue throughout the summer!

This was the tip-toe rope walk, which looked to be difficult because the rope would roll as they tip-toed across it.

Over on the long mat, Ms. Mo had a sort of game going. She had a large spinner with different animals on it and each of the kids spun the spinner to see what animal they were to be. Then they were to act out the animal that they got! Above Isabel is doing a snail and she did a great job at it too!

Working their way around the room the kids went from each exercise set up, there was: Chicken limbo, the tip-toe rope walk, a log-leaping course, hop scotch, a dismount exercise and then the animal game. After the kids went around the room on their own for awhile, Ms. Mo gathered them at the long mat…

They were told (and shown) that today they were going to forward roll all the way down the mat! Up to this point the kids were only doing one forward roll at a time. So this was more of a challenge to get the proper technique of the forward roll and continuing it all the way down the mat!

Almost there!

The marker scent today was marshmallow!

Graduation Gifts

So Isabel graduated last week from preschool and we got her a few gifts celebrate.

So proud of our little graduate!

She’s been fascinated with the whole “Tangled” movie since she watched it a few weeks ago. So much so that she actually cut her own hair and has been walking around the house with baby blankets tied to her head as hair (I remember doing that but it wasn’t because of Rapunzel). So I thought enough with the blankets lets get her an actual “Tangled” wig!…

So here is our Rapunzel, with her very own “golden hair”.

Then today she added the dress and the crown because Rapunzel had a dress and a crown in the movie.  To cute!

Isabel’s Room

Isabel has been wanting a purple room ever since the day she could talk! OK not since then but since she’s been out of her crib. So we decided with graduation from Preschool we’d remodel her room!

We began with choosing a wall color that was close in color to her existing curtains, bedspread and one that she actually liked. She chose “Orchid House”. The day before we started painting Isabel and I cleared out her room by placing everything in the guest room. Her bed, we placed on the floor of our bedroom and the dresser stayed in the room covered in plastic and was used as a catch-all for tools and such.

Looking south easterly; finishing a few things after all the prep work was complete.
(Note: the purple line on the wall is not the final color of the room)

We removed everything except the carpet (it came out later) and the door to her room (which remained in place and remained white). The room was a blank canvas so to speak…

Looking south westerly.
(Note: the purple line on the wall is not the final color of the room – it was some other paint but decided against it because it was to dark.)

She’s excited!!! She begins painting on the north wall by the closet. Her room will be purple before the day is finished.

Looking south easterly. It’s PURPLE alright!

Looking north into the closet.

After working around the room (with Gino and I following her to spread out the paint) she begins the closet bottom half.

Working together in the closet to get it done.

A Forest And A Barn

Since I haven’t added any of Isabel’s art work lately, I thought it was about time. Enjoy!

This first one she did on Tuesday was for me. She said it’s a forest with trees, a bird, a monkey, a snake, and a mouse. If you look closely along the bottom in the brown dirt you can see she even added roots to her trees. Oh, and the small half circle shape by the monkey on the tree, is a sticker of a leaf falling from the trees.

I absolutely love it! Her art has changed so much in the last year it’s so great to see what will come from her crayons or markers when she sits down to draw!

This second picture was done for Daddy on Thursday. It’s a red barn with a hay loft (with hay) and two cows. I love this one too!

School News: Last Day

Today was the last day of preschool and it was fun day!

I took a before school photo on the first day of school in this same spot and I decided I would do the same for the last day of school too!

To begin class Mrs. W opened with pray asking for safety for all her students has they leave her class today and then read the Bible story from Mark 10:13-16 about the little children and Jesus.

Afterward we danced! Mrs. W had the class get in a large circle and then they sang a cute song while picking a friend to dance in the middle of the circle. We moved around the circle so everyone had a chance to dance. I was hoping to find the song or the lyrics on the internet but haven’t had very much luck. I will keep looking.

Afterward to settle back down, Mrs. W read the story by Laura Numeroff,
If You Give a Moose a Muffin.”

We headed over to the tables after the story and got fitted for our very own moose antlers! Cute girls: Payton, Makayla, and Isabel.

A whole herd of moose!

Then they wanted to act like moose eating!

After the group photo as moose, we went back to the tables to make bird feeders.

I loved Makayla’s bird feeder and asked her for a photo.

We headed out to the courtyard for some running around time. The boys chased the girls, the girls chased the boys and then there were cute moments of walking together with friends in the grass; Emily, Aubrey (Olivia’s older sister), Isabel, and Rebecca.

Snack time was a party time celebration. They had several different cookie choices, cupcakes, rice crispy snacks, grapes, and even ice cream with fudge, caramel, and sprinkles! Talk about sugar overload!!

Enjoying their snack time.

Just before leaving… one last photo with Mrs. W and Mrs. Standfield. Two great teachers who really love what they do and love the kids too!

I love Isabel’s bird feeder. She was the only one to wrap stickers around the cap.
The horn is from the “treasure chest” of toys that Mrs. W allowed the kids to pick 2 items from. Isabel choose the horn and the game of “Pick-up-sticks.”

We took her feeder outside and I let her hang it on the fence hook. Isabel is excited to see some birds come to her feeder.

Singing my “God is So Big”.

Mrs. Standfield handing Isabel her packet from preschool.

Mrs. W gave them their diploma’s and a Bible of their own.
Mrs. W also told us what each child wanted to be when they grew up. Isabel said she wanted to me a teacher and a farmer.

Isabel’s packet is filled with work and photos that were collected throughout the year.

Addie and Isabel.

These 2 have played a lot together at school the past several weeks. Hopefully we can get some play dates in during summer.
