Kindergarten: Day 51

Today begins parent/teacher conferences which begin tomorrow and the book fair at school begins tomorrow also.

Our meeting with Mrs. Boettcher is on Wednesday.

Isabel didn’t mention anything about class today. Her answer is always the same, “We did lots of stuff.” When we try to get more information she “can’t remember”.

Great practice work. All the numbers are going the right way!

Back: Dot to dot

Circle all the items that begin with the letter “Dd“.

Phonics practice with the letter “Dd“.

Winter Jam

Tonight we headed to the Tacoma Dome for Winter Jam. We saw 10 artists all for the price of $10 at the door. Sweet!

Waiting patiently for the concerts to begin.
She did a great job tonight (listening and obeying), even staying up way past her bedtime!

As we walked into the Dome, we spotted Bob and Larry from VeggieTales and Isabel didn’t want to stop by and say hi and get a photo.

Winter Jam, created by Newsong, has been held along the east coast for the past 12 years. This is the first year the tour has been west, with 11 concerts/cities planned for the tour. We are lucky to live close enough to see the show!

The pre-jam show began with Patrick Ryan Clark (didn’t get a photo), followed by For King & Country, and Dara Maclean. Followed by speaker Tony Nolan (great speaker!) before the main show.

For King & Country.

Dara Maclean.

The main show featured artists KJ-52 (didn’t get a photo), Fireflight (didn’t get a photo), Matthew West, Newsong, Red, Kutless (got a photo but it was blurry!) and Newsboys.

Red. I didn’t like them the first time I saw them and still don’t like them. Gino likes them though. Isabel really liked their “show” with pyrotechnics.

Newsong.

Matthew West. I really liked his “show” and songs. We got his latest CD after the show.

The last group to perform was the Newsboys. Isabel really enjoyed their “show” and the spinning drummer and “flying” guitar and keyboard player!

Chalk

Since today was no school, Isabel got out her chalkboard and worked with it all afternoon making different pictures. This one I thought was the best!

It’s a house with snails, butterflies, a bee, and birds in the sky.
A great way to spend your day when it’s cold and rainy outside.

Can you see her tooth hole???

If not…

Here’s a closer look! It’s very odd seeing her with a missing tooth.

Kindergarten: Day 50

Isabel didn’t tell us anything about school today. Only that they got donuts for Ansley’s last day and that in honor of her last day Isabel drew her a picture. The picture was a rainbow with flowers.

The opening activity was “Nn” work.

Phonics practice with the letter “Dd”. She missed one and colored the carrots and then got lazy or rushed with her coloring.

Back: I noticed she didn’t even complete this side while at school and when I asked her about it…she said, she forgot. Later when I went to scan the page, I noticed she had completed the work at some point.

She’s doing great at memorizing her Bible verses for each week. She does struggle a bit (sometimes) with Chapter and verse but otherwise she has done a great job learning them each week and remembering the previous weeks verses as well. Way to go, Isabel!

This week’s Bible verses:

Jj” – “Jesus said unto him, I am the way, the truth and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” John 14:6

“Ii” – “If ye shall ask anything in My name, I will do it.” John 14:14

“Hh” – “Honor thy father and thy mother.” Exodus 20:12

“Aa” – “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

Caught Her Fancy Part 2

I again gave Isabel the camera to see what she saw through the screen. Enjoy!

The first photo is of Daddy playing the drums. Very blurry and dark, but that’s not her fault. We have no lights in the front room and without the flash, well, you’ll get a dark photo.

Dora and Boots on her umbrella handle. Blurry too.

The next day after school the weather was absolutely gorgeous and I let her have the camera again in hopes from some interesting photos…

Our little budding photographer.

She said she liked the clouds but somehow she got more of the fence.

This dandelion is a great clear shot!

Another dandelion. She’s always had a fascination with them. Clear shot too!

Another weed.

The shed concrete pad and another weed.

The next photo, she set it down and started collecting rocks. When I asked her why, she told me to wait…

Her rock face. I love that she took the time to actually create this and then take a photo of it. She was thinking through! Great photo!

She even got a photo of me! It’s great, nice and clear. Good job!

After the photo of me, she went back to taking photos of the clouds.

Wispy-gray cloud day. Great day for taking photos!

Kindergarten: Day 49

The road crew was out early this morning working on the new traffic signal at the end of our main street. It’s going to be so nice! I got to go through the green light on our way to school and felt safe crossing traffic. Some of the road “ladies” were removing cones from further down the street to open the final lane for traffic. It’s been over 2 years since the work began and I am so ready for it to end!

Mrs. Boettcher and Mrs. Kelso were both excited to see Isabel back at school. Her cough has subsided but is still lingering around. She was excited to be back and showed off her new purple fingertips!

I found out from the internet yesterday, that there is no over-the-counter medication for children under the age of 12 with a cough. The FDA has banded it since 2008. I did find information about giving her a 1/2 teaspoon of honey.  Yesterday it worked! She still was coughing but it seemed fewer and less harsh. I was surprised and will try it again for sure!

Today was Show-and-Tell Wednesday, for the boys that is. The items the boys had to bring had to begin with the letter “Dd“. Ja’Siah brought a Pillow Pets® dinosaur and a toy dinosaur that was smaller. Lincoln or Nevan (Isabel couldn’t remember who) brought a puppy dog. Since there are only 5 boys in the class they mostly brought dinosaurs.

Isabel has also learned to count by 10’s. She practices while she’s eating at the table. So cool to see that she’s picked up numbers and counting so quickly and easily.

Only one paper today.

Back: dot to dot.

Tomorrow is Ansley’s last day. She’s moving. I’m not sure exactly if she’s moving schools or moving locations. Isabel has just said she’s moving.

Today is the half way mark to day 100 of Kindergarten! I know the class is excited about this day, that is so fast approaching.

Kindergarten: Day 48

I kept Isabel home from school today, her cough sounded horrible this morning!

So it’s a sick day today, good news though is the sun is out!
