No school due to Thanksgiving break.
Happy Thanksgiving!…btw, Isabel wore her pilgrim hat to dinner! She actually wanted us all to wear hats but she had made the hats to small. Maybe next year.
A life full of faith, hope, love, and laughter.
No school due to Thanksgiving break.

Isabel was all smiles when we arrived at school this morning, so much so that Mrs. Boettcher pointed it out to her. Just happy to be in school I guess!
Isabel was still all excited after class. She was munching on popcorn and drinking a juice pouch when she headed out the classroom door. She told me she was full all the way up to her shoes with popcorn!
The opening activity was a pilgrim picture. Isabel said she “copied” Reese with the colors that she used. We had a talk about “coping” other peoples work!
Working with numbers again. Isabel said Reese put the black “Rr” in the star.
Back: number writing. Such great work on her writing!
The class had recess in the gym because of the rain outside. They played duck-duck-goose and a few other games.
Working with the letter “Gg”.
Back: more work with “Gg”. Great job!
After recesses, Mrs. Boettcher had surprised the class with a paper turkey stuffed (all the way to the top!) with popcorn. The class was able to choose either a pilgrim hat, a pilgrim bonnet, or Indian hat. The class proceeded to have a “feast”! What a great idea! Mrs. Boettcher and Isabel greeted me at the door with pilgrim bonnets. (Wish I had the camera with me!)
My little pilgrim!
I was able to get a photo in the car before heading back home.
Happy Thanksgiving!
She actually wore this hat all night long!
I thought it was cute with her reading in the rocker.

We had a major storm move in bringing in buckets of rain overnight. The high winds and heavy rain were so bad last night that it woke me up. For the next several days the forecast calls for rain and more rain. Typical Northwest weather in November!
This morning the rain was really coming down when Isabel and I headed out to school. The parking lot at the school was almost a complete covered in water and it was hard to navigate trying to find the high ground.
Today was Chapel at school. Isabel said she went to 2 Chapels today. 1 of them was a family Chapel, which was held in the church and the other was just a normal Chapel but was in a room Isabel has never been to before. This seemed a little odd to us, but I have a feeling it may have something to do with Thanksgiving.
Other then that, she didn’t say anything about her day. Except that Lincoln got really upset about something but found out that he had a loose tooth.
She didn’t even bring any paper’s home in her “take home folder”. Maybe tomorrow…
UPDATE: She brought her work home the following day.
Opening activity was to color a turkey. However Isabel didn’t complete her’s because she read a book instead.
Learning phrases: first, second, third, and fourth.
Back: number practice with the number “6“.

We had a white weekend. We had snow on Saturday, just enough to cover the grass and cars and such. However it didn’t stick to the sidewalks or roads. Sunday, we awoke to white again but it was only a hard freeze that looked like snow. This morning it’s wet weather outside with a nice drizzle of rain.
When we got into class today, Isabel lost all focus. I had to keep telling her what to do. Put your folder in the bin. Hang up your backpack. Hang up your coat. Put your lunch magnet on the board. When I left her sitting at her table she was of course, looking at the books. As I was leaving I told her to do her work BEFORE reading any books. I was very disappointed to learn that she didn’t complete her work before reading.
Today Mrs. Boettcher told the kids about her funny weekend. She lives closer to the mountains then we do and she got more snow, 11 inches in fact. She told the kids about getting stuck in the snow and how a gate was stuck and how her car couldn’t get up a hill. Isabel said it was funny and was laughing to herself while she was retelling me.
Today was all school open. One of the girls from class was with the older kids and she got to be on stage with pompoms. Isabel couldn’t remember what they talked about but said it was a lot of fun.
Her incomplete work.
Working with the letter “Gg“. She wrote her name beautifully and correctly!
Back: Writing “Gg“. Great job!

Isabel didn’t say anything about school today.
Pattern turkey.
Working with the letter “Nn“.
Back: High-frequency word usage. The picture on she drew is of home.

“This is the day! This is the day! This is the day that the Lord has made. That the Lord has made. That the Lord has made. I will rejoice! I will rejoice! I will rejoice and be glad in it!” sung by Isabel while getting ready for school this morning.
Isabel didn’t have a lot to say about her day at school. She did say they went to music class with Mrs. Seal and practiced their Christmas program. Isabel got to go up on stage and said her line. She said, she got it wrong the first time and was allowed to do it again…”The angles sang beautiful praises to God.” Each of her classmates has a spoken part in the program. I can’t wait to see the finished show in December!
After practice the class headed out to recess and then back to the classroom.
Beautifully colored turkey!

This morning we got ready and out the door on time and without delay. We arrived at the class just after Mrs. Boettcher opened the door.
Today was the girls turn for show and tell with the letter “Gg“. Each girl was to bring something that started with the letter given. Isabel said that someone brought a snow globe, that lite up and had lots of snow falling down inside. Someone brought gold coins. Another girl brought a trophy with a girl on it. Isabel took 2 stuffed animal giraffes from her Noah’s ark boat. She said she didn’t get to see the rest of the show and tell because she had to leave to go home. Bummer!
Today they had free-choice recess, because it was raining outside. Isabel first chose computer games and then decided to play school with Lincoln, Nevan, and Emma. Isabel said she was the teacher the again and I reminded her she needed to share her “role” as teacher with others.
The Bible story today was about Abraham and Issac. Abraham was offering his son as an offering to God. However God provided a ram for the sacrifice instead.
“It’s raining on the sidewalk. It’s raining on the street. I think I’ll put my rain coat on and let it rain on me.” Is a new action song that she has learned the whole thing.
Mrs. Boettcher brought her guitar again to class. They sang “I am Jesus’ little flower”. Don’t know if this is the actual title of the song but Isabel said she really like the song.

BTW…
Our parent/teacher conference went very well. Isabel is doing great in school. Mrs. Boettcher is just amazed with her love of books. Mrs. Boettcher said when given the choice between coloring and reading, Isabel will go for a book instead. Mrs. Boettcher says she just loves that about her! Also, Isabel is at a 2nd grade reading level!
Isabel is meeting all her requirements for Kindergarten for the first quarter. She does need to work on slowing down while writing. She gets in such a hurry, that her work comes out sloppy sometimes. When we know that she can write each letter correctly.
She has picked up counting, very quickly, at the beginning of the year she could only count to 1-10, now she can count to 109 and beyond! She can also count by 10’s and does so all the way to 100.
We received alphabet flash cards for word blending of sounds. We also learned that after Thanksgiving she will be given a book each day and will be required to read the book for homework each night. The next day, she will have to read the book to either Mrs. Boettcher or Mrs. Kelso. At the end of the day she will get a new book to work on. Isabel is going to love this! And finally, we received “lines” for the Christmas program coming up in December. She only has 1 line to learn and I think she’ll pick it up quickly!
Way to go Isabel! You are doing so well and we are so proud of your hard work. God has given you an amazing mind to learn and we hope you continue to learn and grow as the year continues.
The book fair started at school today and runs all week long. Also parent/teacher conferences started this afternoon as well. Tomorrow is our conference day.
After school today Isabel and I walked through the book fair displays. Looks like a lot of great books are being offered for ssle. We didn’t stick around long because it seemed like they were just setting up. Maybe we’ll pick something up later in the week…
Today was Chapel. Isabel didn’t mention anything about it. Just that they went and it was sunny out. They didn’t get to have recess today because of Chapel.
With the new seating arrangement in class, she is now on the yellow (was on the blue) team and is getting to know Reese better. They seem to play together at recess more often. When we asked her what they play, she said they play school. When I asked her who the teacher was, she said she was.
Number practice. The pictures along the right side are 6 flowers.
We’ve been working on our numbers at home as well. She still gets them backward.
