Kindergarten: Day 94

Today is Tuesday and that means Chapel.

Isabel said that they had a “family” Chapel. She hasn’t mentioned these in awhile and I forgot about them and wondered if they even did them anymore. The “family” Chapel are small groups of mixed-ages lead by the 6th graders. Isabel said that her group met together in an other classroom. The message was a review of last weeks Chapel with Pastor Shawn and the Fruit of the Spirit. This week they discussed ways to practice the Fruit of the Spirit. They went over the passage again from Galatians 5:22-23 and then made a Fruit of the Spirit bookmark to remind them to keep practicing love, joy, kindness, goodness, peace, patience, gentleness, and self control.

Isabel’s Fruit of the Spirit bookmark.

Since Isabel missed yesterday. She had to complete her MAP testing during recess time. Next week is the final day of testing and hopefully we’ll find out soon how she’s doing.

Phonics practice with the letter “Kk“.

Back: more phonics practice.

Review of letter’s “Ll“, “Ii“, and “Tt“.

Back: For some reason she didn’t finish this…

Kindergarten: Day 93

We had a wonderful weekend! Isabel celebrated her birthday and the sun was out the whole weekend. It was wonderful! Hopefully yours was just as wonderful…

I have a bit of news… my “main” computer is down. It’s just a giant paper weight at this moment sitting on my desk upstairs. Gino thinks that my hard drive is almost dead. Strange noises were heard coming from it last night and it wouldn’t boot-up either. This morning, I was actually able to get it booted-up and was able to back-up all my photos and files. Which is a great thing, if should happen to not boot-up again tomorrow! So why am I telling you this??? Because I use my “main” computer for blogging, I do not use my laptop computer for this. So that means, I will not be adding photos to the blog until I get my “main” computer back. I can add the updates but there will not be any photos. Just letting ya know…

School News: No school today for our little squirt. I awoke this morning at around 5 to the sound of her coughing. A dry hacking sound that put me on high alert for the rest of the morning. When the alarm went off at 7 a.m. I got up and dismissed her from school today. I went back to bed, finally falling asleep for a few hours before waking up at around 9:30 to hear Isabel say she didn’t get up in time for school.

Happy Birthday Isabel

Today is Isabel’s birthday!

We went to the newly-reopened Children’s Museum.

Isabel and I outside before we head inside for some fun and discovery!

Inside the Museum there are 5 areas for kids to explore. When we arrived there were so many people in the “woods” area that we didn’t stick around long. So we headed to the next area which is the “water” area.

This area is very cool. With water flowing freely in 2 different “rivers”. There is even a deep tank with a window to “fish” for items that sink to the bottom of the tank.

Having lots of fun in the “water” area of the museum.

The “voyager” area features a large metal and wood bird.
The kids can climb through and in the large bird.

In the head of the bird talking on the phone with someone??…
(I believe the phone connects with another phone located in the body of the bird. Kids can “talk” with each other)

This air shoot was around the corner from the bird. Kids can place scarves into different housing spots and air pushes the scarves through the tubing. After zipping through the maze of tubing the scarf will shoot out from different locations along the course. All the kids in the museum loved this!

After spending about an hour and half at the museum, Isabel was getting bored and hungry. So we headed out and walked up the street to the Old Spaghetti Factory. Isabel had spaghetti and both Gino and I had the Chicken and  Smoked Mozzarella Panini (YUM!) sandwich.

Daddy and his Birthday Girl.

Kindergarten: Day 92

Wow! Talk about a foggy morning. Could only see 2 houses down!

It was back to school this morning. Isabel was feeling better from her bad afternoon on Wednesday. So glad she was able to get back into class since tomorrow is her birthday. We had a surprise for her during school…

She said she had to wear her “headphones” on the way to school.

The opening activity was backward circle line practice with the letter “Oo“.

Back: backward circle practice small “Oo“. Awesome job with the little “o“.

Math work (she was working on this when we arrived!) Write the numbers, add them up, and draw an object for each number. Isabel drew hearts and marbles.

Back: math work. Her numbers are improving.

Finishing her work (above photos) up before sharing cupcakes with her class!

The class was excited to see the cupcakes, since they had cupcakes yesterday too because today was Nevan’s birthday and they celebrated his birthday yesterday. Tomorrow is Isabel’s!

Isabel’s table; Lliam, Audrey, Isabel, and Anabella.

Reese, Nevan, Maliyah, Jayden, and Taylor.

Ja’Siah, Lincoln, and Mishy.

Emma, Madeline, and Mariana.
(several of the kids were missing from class today)

After we left the kids went outside for recess. Isabel said she got to play with some boys from the other class but they started to be rough.

Kindergarten: Day 90 – Move-Up Day

10 more school days until day 100! I know that the class is getting excited and Isabel mentions it more and more as the day gets closer and closer.

This morning it was raining hard as we headed off to school and continued on and off all morning long. Later in the afternoon we even got a few spots of sunshine before the clouds broke up just as the sun was dipping in the sky.

Today was Move-up day for Preschool through 5th grades at school. Isabel and her class got to visit 1st grade! (No show and tell this week because of it)

She said going to 1st grade was fun and they even got to sit in the desks like first-graders! The first-grade teacher read the story “The Fat Cat Book: A Danish Folktale” by Jack Kent to them. Isabel said she really liked it and I told her I remember that book and I liked it too!

When they got back to their own classroom again, they played the game “Doggy Doggy Where is Your Bone?”. Isabel said she didn’t get picked to be the dog this time but she had fun anyway.

Front: math work.

Back: number writing. She did a great job!

A portrait.

When I asked her who it was (thinking it was Audrey or someone else), she said, “Its’ me! Because of the space in the middle!” Ha-ha!

After class Isabel told me her tummy wasn’t feeling well and she didn’t want to eat her snack…

This week’s Bible verses:

“Oo” – “O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good.” Psalm 118:1

“Nn” – “No man can serve two masters.” Matthew 6:24

Kindergarten: Day 89

The clouds broke apart and the sun came out the whole time Isabel was in school. I was so excited, thinking she would get to ride her scooter again around the neighborhood… not! After school the clouds closed up and it began to rain. Bummer! Sometimes I hate living in the PNW, today was one of them!

Not much was said about school today. She did tell me the Bible story is about Moses and Mishy missed class again today.

Chapel was today and Pastor Shawn, from the church, gave the message about the “fruits of the Spirit” listed in Galatians 5:22-23. Which are love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self control. Just like real fruit on a tree, we also get pruned in order to bear more fruit. Reading the Bible helps us to learn and grow.

Opening activity; backward circle lines.

Front: phonics with a “Bb“.

I love how she did her name at the name, it’s perfect and then down below she gets all crazy with the “Bb’s“.

Number 4

During class today Isabel lost her fourth tooth. She was super excited because it happened at school! She said she was eating her snack when she felt her tooth come loose. She said it was bloody and she went to the bathroom, where another girl helped her wet a paper towel to get the blood to stop. Mrs. Boettcher put her tooth in a small envelope so she could bring it home.

When we stopped for gas on the way home, I was able to get a few photos…

Her new smile!

A close-up of her new smile. It’s looking more and more like a big girl smile.

BTW… that bit of flesh poking up is just part of her gum and was back to normal the following day.
