School News: Fireman

Today was a fun day for Isabel. One of the Daddies came and told the class about what he does in the fire department. He had a really loud hat, she said but he turned it down. Some of the class got to wear his hat, coat, and boots but Isabel said she didn’t want to try them on. He told the class what to do when your house was on fire. If you can’t go out the door, go to the window and someone will come and help you out. If a fire truck comes on your street, stay out of the road and in your yard because the fire truck could run you over. She got to practice how to stop, drop, and roll, she didn’t roll very good, she said.

Isabel turkey puppet, that she colored, cut out, and pasted to the bag all by herself.
(We didn’t think so…Gino thought it was a turtle and I thought it was a dinosaur!)

Today, she talked with Deven, Makayla, and Zachary. They practiced singing their Christmas songs for the program next month. The special helper today was Emily and it was her birthday today! They sang Happy birthday to her. For show and tell, Emily brought a pink hamster (not real). The hamster, who’s name was Pinky, had 2 houses, a summer home and a winter home and a ball. For snack they had breakfast bars that were blueberry, chocolate chip, oatmeal. They even had cupcakes with turkey rings on them (see the above picture) to celebrate too! Isabel said, she was really messy with her cupcake and everyone was laughing at her.

After school, she dove right into her goodie bag and started coloring pages and doing the other activities in her fireman color book.

Thank you fireman!
You keep us safe and help us out when their is a fire at home or school!

School News: No School

No school today due to parent/teacher conferences.

We had our conference today @ 10 a.m. Isabel is dong a great job! She is right on track for her age. She does need to work on reciting the alphabet, when asked in class to do so, she got to “S” and then stopped. So we will be working on that along with everything else that we do to keep her moving forward.

School News: Pine Cone Turkey

This morning was our first frost and I had to scrap the windows on the car before heading to school.

Isabel at school with her pine cone turkey. So cute!

Isabel’s turkey.

They traced their hands, cut those out, glued that to the back of the cone, then added colorful feathers, a pipe cleaner for the neck, glued on Googly eyes and a wattle.

Since Jeannie (Gino’s cousin) and her little boy, Aaron are here for a visit. They came with me to see Isabel’s school and Aaron got to sit in the special helper chair.

Mrs. W told Isabel she could have one of the partially popped cobs from Wednesdays strawberry popcorn day.

Today Ja’saih’s daddy, who is in the military, came to class to tell the kids all about what he does about staying safe. He had on a white and gray outfit and a helmet that was black and gray. He had a little box that had ear plugs inside and the box was attached to his belt.  He had boots on that had holes in them so that his feet could breathe. He also had something on his chest to protect his chest.

The special helper today was Addie. Addie forgot to bring a show and tell. For snack they had grapes, a cupcake, and juice.

School News: Busy Day And Letter H

Today in school Isabel had a very very busy day! They did so much, in the time that they had together!

Isabel in the car with strawberry popcorn.

She had a huge handful in the classroom and if I would have been thinking, I could have gotten a picture but she was eating it so fast! They made strawberry popcorn. Which was so tiny. Mrs. W told us that they went into the kitchen to watch it pop up in the microwave and the kids just loved watching it pop! pop! pop!

A close up of the kernels…they were so small.

They sang the turkey pokey and worked on Christmas songs for a program next month. They had a fire drill and Isabel did so well, Mrs. W was very proud of her. Isabel said she didn’t even have to cover her ears. They even talked about what to do if there was an earthquake. Isabel says that you go under the table, hug the table leg and don’t come out until after everything stops moving. Good job!

They worked on the letter “H” for heart, hot, hop, happy, house, and hug.” Isabel says. I just love this letter “H” that she worked on, the hearts aren’t all the way glued down, so they rise up from the paper.

They did leaf and corn on the cob press painting. They painted a leaf or corn cob and then pressed it onto paper. Isabel said that she didn’t quite understand how to do it but there are certain areas where you can see the leaf and corn cob press.

The special helper was Anika. Isabel couldn’t remember what Anika brought in for show and tell. For snack they had Toy Story 4 fruit snacks, cheese and crackers, and juice.

They also went to chapel. In chapel they heard a story about Jesus up on a hill. The sang songs, one of which was  “Go Tell It On The Mountain”. They also heard a story about flowers wearing clothes.

While they were out in the playground, Isabel did water painting again.

School News: Turkey Feathers

What an interesting day…

I was able to get a photo of Isabel and all those turkey feathers that all the kids did. Isn’t he cool?!

A photo of photos from the class and their many adventures last month.
Can you find Isabel?

The Bible story was about a blind man and Jesus made him better. They worked on the letter “G”, writing it down. The story today was about Crayons that talked and stood on their heads to be colored with. For recess she dug in the rocks and mentioned something about painting with water on the wall. Haven’t heard about this one before, so have no idea what she’s talking about there…

The special helpers today were Zachary and Rebecca (they both had a birthday over the weekend – and since we had no school on Friday, they were both special helper today!). Zachary brought a treasure with pictures in it. The pictures were of a football team. Zachary watches football every day with his Daddy.

Rebecca brought a doll and a mouse. The doll has a wheelchair, but she didn’t bring the wheelchair to class. Isabel was very excited because she got to ask Rebecca a question about her doll…”Do you sleep with her?” she asked. “Yes, she sleeps with her doll!” she said.

For snack, they had Toy Story 3 cookies and milk. “You could dip your cookies in your milk and I drank all my milk.” Isabel said

If you missed her from the photos above…
She (a fireman) was playing dress up with Makayla, who was a very adorable giraffe.
Mrs. W was very kind and let me bring this picture home!

School News: Letter G

We learned today that there will be no school on Friday, something about a teacher holiday or something.

Golden glittered G.

Isabel didn’t tell me much about her day at school today. She did mention how she tripped and knocked over the bookcase and another Mommy and her teacher helped pick it up. They read the story of the sower in the Bible, Mark 4:1-20. When I asked her about it, she said, “Oh yeah, he planted seed and they fell on the ground and were choked out. Then he planted more seeds and they went in the dirt.”

(after she told me she heard the story of the sower at school… I looked up coloring pages online and found this one for her to color. She did a great job!)

She also mentioned the show and tell that was brought by special helper, Aiden. He brought 2 lightsaber’s and they both made noise. For snack they had fishy crackers, raisins, and juice.

When she got home from school, she worked a bit on number writing.

1…2…3…Good job!

4…5…6…7…

8…Great job!
