No school due to Jesus’ birthday!
Happy Birthday, Jesus!
A life full of faith, hope, love, and laughter.
All things related to school days.
No school due to Jesus’ birthday!
Happy Birthday, Jesus!
No school due to Jesus’ birthday!
Happy Birthday, Jesus!
Today was the class Christmas party! Mrs. Boettcher and Mrs. Kelso, along with some help from a few moms helped give the kids a great party. The class was told to wear as much red and green as possible! Since Isabel didn’t have anything Christmassy, we headed to the store a few days before to get a party outfit.
The shirt she picked out for her class party. She made the necklace at school (see below).
Her matching socks.
Isabel was excited after class today! She said, the room was divided into “stations”. One station, was for cookie decorating. Another was a jingle-bell necklace making station. One station was a Christmas card puzzle and another station was Christmas Bingo. Isabel said she was the first to get Bingo and she won a candy cane!
At the cookie making station, Isabel was given a tree shaped sugar cookie. She was able to spread the icing on herself (but told not to lick the knife!!) and was given several different candies to top it with! Her cookie was coated with several different things and one large gummy penguin! I think this station was her favorite place to be today.
Her decorated cookie; she chomped the top off at school!
The opening activity was a coloring page. You can’t tell from the scan but it’s colored “like a rainbow”, Isabel said.
They talked about the “wise-men” or “kings” coming to visit Jesus after his birth.
They talked about giving gifts to Jesus. What would you give?
If you open Isabel’s gift, you would see she would give gold.
Isabel said they did go out for recess but it was for a short time. She didn’t say what she did when she was out there, which I thought was odd because if it was any other day, recess is all she talks about! I know today isn’t any other day though!

The opening activity was a nativity coloring page. She said she colored it yellow to show “God’s radiance!”
Back: She drew a person with 2 mice.
Today was show and tell for the boys. They were to bring an ornament just like the girls did last week. Isabel said she saw a M&M (the yellow one) guy dressed like a Jedi from Star Wars. The Jedi had a red light saber. One of the boys brought a homemade ornament that was made by his dad, she didn’t mention what it was.
She also got to participate with a visual math exercise at the front of the class with Mrs. Boettcher and other classmates. She was the number 9.
The exercise that was made into a visual exercise. Learning before, after and between. Isabel was “before” 10 and “between” 8 and 10!
Back: number writing practice along with simple addition. Great job writing your numbers!
She mentioned a art project that they worked on but she didn’t bring it home because they put it on the board in the classroom. (I later learned what the project was!)
Friday is the classroom Christmas party and even though I won’t be able to attend with her. I was able to help by donating plates, napkins, and icing for cookie decorating. Sounds like it’s going to be a fun party before Christmas vacation begins!

Today was another cold morning as we headed out, I was able to slip out early enough to get the car started and warmed up before heading off to school.
Today is “Fun Lunch”!!! and Chapel!!
Isabel has been looking forward to this day since it was first mentioned at school. She gets to be like full-day students and eat lunch at school with her friends!
The look in her eye as she put her lunch magnet in the “hot” lunch section on the board instead of the “at home” section, was just priceless! She was just grinning from ear to ear. Lliam was at the board when she moved her magnet and he said, “I am just so confused.” Haha!
Isabel was so excited when I picked her up! She had a paper sack with her leftover lunch. She was happy that she was able to bring the leftovers home (and I was too). She had a huge slice of pizza, chips, fruit snacks, a marshmallow square, and a juice pouch! Wow, that’s a lot of food for her! She ate it all just in shifts, some at school with her friends and then at home with us!
There was no Chapel today. Which I thought was very odd with Christmas coming up and vacation starting on Friday. (I later found out that Chapel was moved to Friday afternoon)
The opening activity was a coloring page. You can’t tell very well but she colored the whole thing yellow.
Back: stable scene with Mary, Joseph and Jesus, with a sheep!
We’ve been working hard on the verses that are given each week. She’s gotten to the point were she gets the book and verse numbers confused. If I give her the letter, she can get the verse. So we are working on getting all the right books and chapters with the right verse.
This week’s Bible verses:

So cold outside this morning as we headed out to school. The frost on the car windows was really thick and it took more time to clear it away then I expected. When we arrived at school we had to run to make it before the being tardy and having to head to the office first.
After school Isabel was excited to tell me about a “treasure” she found on the playground. Her “treasure” was a tiny metal “Hanna Montana” star, either from someones shoe or something. It’s tiny, smaller then a penny! She was so excited about finding it. She also told me about how the rocks in the playground were frozen together when she went to pick up a handful.
When I asked her why she didn’t swing, she said, because they got new playground equipment and the swings are gone. After she mentioned that, I remembered Gino saying the school was looking for help over the Christmas break to install the new equipment. So they must be getting ready to install some of the new equipment. How exciting!!!
Another “stained-glass” coloring project for the opening activity. She did a great job coloring it but I forgot to ask her why she drew the face on the angel so sad…
Back: The magi come to visit baby Jesus in the stable. When I first looked at this I asked her why one of the men has 2 heads. Gino pointed out to me that it was his crown and not a head! Haha! Great job Isabel!
Number writing practice. She did a very good job with this!
Back: more clock work. I love that she comes home from school and really works hard at telling me what time it is and enjoys doing it! Her number writing here is awesome!
She said the Bible story today was about baby Jesus being born.
Tomorrow is “Fun Lunch” at school and she is very excited that she is going to be able to attend. They ordered Papa John pizza and she’ll get to stay with her friends in class to eat lunch with them! She’s been talking about this since last week! Every day, she would ask if it’s “Fun Lunch” tomorrow… well the day is finally here! I hope she enjoys the extra time with her friends!
Friday is the last day of school before Christmas vacation, Mrs. Boettcher has planned a Christmas party. Isabel is excited about this as well and it does sound like they are going to have a great time with games and festive snacks and goodies! Looking forward to hearing all about it!

The opening activity today was a “stained-glass” coloring page.
She kind of got the whole “stained-glass” thing… well sort of.
Phonics work with the letter “Ii“.
Back: more phonics work with letters.
The Bible story was about Joseph making the decision to not marry Mary. Then the Angel came to talk with Joseph about the baby Mary is carrying.
