Kindergarten: Day 99 – Valentines Day

This morning we (all) headed out the door to school. Gino and I were volunteering during the party! Gino grilled up pancakes, while I helped with set up and waitress-ing. We had fun!

After morning exercises, the class was broken up into 3 groups and each group went to a different station… a Valentine art station/hand out Valentines to classmates, a Valentine Bingo station, and the pancake breakfast station. Enjoy!

The opening activity was a coloring page. Isabel did a wonderful job coloring this!

First group for Valentine Bingo. The kids used conversation hearts as the pieces.

The first group of pancake eaters. Most of the kids just had one pancake but  a few of them actually had 2. Isabel was lucky she was in this group, she said she was hungry!

Breakfast was pancakes, sausage, apple slices and grapes, and juice boxes. Yummy!

Group 2 of the pancake eaters. They did very well eating together, most needed help cutting their pancakes.

After pancakes, Isabel’s group moved on to handing out their Valentines to their classmates and making Valentines art.
While handing out Valentines, each of the kids had a red paper gift bag with their name on it, lined up along the front. Each of the kids got to place their Valentines in their classmates bags before working on the Valentines art.

The last group playing Valentine Bingo before heading over to eat pancakes.

The last area Isabel’s group visited was Bingo. Isabel never did get Bingo but she did get a small prize anyway, a small top.

After all the kids had visited each area, the class went outside for recess and then headed to Chapel. Isabel said they talked about sacrifices but couldn’t remember who the speaker was. I’ll find out more later. While the kids headed out to recess, Gino and I, along with the other volunteer’s cleaned up the room. Afterward, we headed back home. Later, when it was time to pick up Isabel from school, I headed back to get her.

Isabel’s Valentines from her class. The pencil she’s holding is from Mrs. Boettcher.
When I asked her later what her favorite part of the day was; she said, “The pancakes!”

Hope you had a good weekend. We stayed home all weekend and indoors. I am still battling this cold that I’ve had since last Tuesday but I am doing better.

Isabel said she didn’t have any MAP testing this week. Maybe she’s finished or maybe they forgot or maybe they will finish on another day. Not sure.

The Bible story was the continuing story from Exodus 8:12-15, 20-32 and was about Moses and 2 plagues; lice and locust.

The opening activity was writing with the letter “Tt“.

Back: more practice with the letter “Tt“.

During recess today, she said she played with Lincoln and Nevan. They played Dr. and Isabel was the Dr. She said that Lincoln and a cough and had to give him cough drops. She said she even got to chase around Lliam, Lincoln, and Jayden.

Kindergarten: Day 97 – 2nd Quarter End

It’s Friday! What a week! Has your week been just as crazy fun and exciting as ours has been?!

I have gotten a little frustrated with my computer and it’s unwanted noises. I am afraid that if I upload photos to the computer, it might just decide to die and I won’t get the photos back! So for now I’m going to just add school work for now, a little each day that I can. That way if my computer should happen to die, it wouldn’t be anything major lost, just scanned copies. I know that this week, I will be going in for my new job orientation. So I’ll have to work around that, so please bear with me as I work through these little bumps in the road.

Not much was said about class today. We did talk about the Valentines party coming up on Tuesday and also the 100th day coming up on Wednesday (celebrating on Friday). I do know that today was the end of the 2nd quarter for school and Isabel received her report card (see below).

After class we went out to lunch with Daddy, we had a nice lunch together downtown. After we got home, I laid down for the rest of the afternoon and slept until after 5! This cold is really knocking me out!

The opening activity was “Ii” practice. She doesn’t need much practice with this letter.

Back: Capital “Ii” practice.

Number’s by 10’s.
She can count by 10’s so quickly it’s great that she picked this up so fast.

Back: I can see where we need to practice…

Today was the ending of the 2nd Quarter and report cards were given out. Isabel’s is below, although you can’t really read it that well.

She has improved in every area from 1st quarter. We definitely need to work more on number recognition and writing numbers.

“…Isabel’s joy is contagious!” I love that and it’s so true!

Kindergarten: Day 96

This morning was a rushed morning to get out the door, to get to school early for Isabel to buy a Valentines surprise for Mrs. Boettcher. We made it though and even had some time to spare!

I had another job interview and actually walked away with a job! So excited about this new chapter! Can’t wait!

The opening activity was letter “Aa” practice.

Back: more letter “Aa” practice.

Phonics practice review.

Back: phonics work with the letter “Kk“.

Counting with dot-squares.

Back: number writing.

Isabel told us that Mrs. Boettcher asked the class to draw a picture from the Bible story that they have been reading in class. The story of Moses from the book of Exodus. Isabel drew a great picture of Moses in his basket in the river…

Great job!

Kindergarten: Day 94

Today is Tuesday and that means Chapel.

Isabel said that they had a “family” Chapel. She hasn’t mentioned these in awhile and I forgot about them and wondered if they even did them anymore. The “family” Chapel are small groups of mixed-ages lead by the 6th graders. Isabel said that her group met together in an other classroom. The message was a review of last weeks Chapel with Pastor Shawn and the Fruit of the Spirit. This week they discussed ways to practice the Fruit of the Spirit. They went over the passage again from Galatians 5:22-23 and then made a Fruit of the Spirit bookmark to remind them to keep practicing love, joy, kindness, goodness, peace, patience, gentleness, and self control.

Isabel’s Fruit of the Spirit bookmark.

Since Isabel missed yesterday. She had to complete her MAP testing during recess time. Next week is the final day of testing and hopefully we’ll find out soon how she’s doing.

Phonics practice with the letter “Kk“.

Back: more phonics practice.

Review of letter’s “Ll“, “Ii“, and “Tt“.

Back: For some reason she didn’t finish this…

Kindergarten: Day 93

We had a wonderful weekend! Isabel celebrated her birthday and the sun was out the whole weekend. It was wonderful! Hopefully yours was just as wonderful…

I have a bit of news… my “main” computer is down. It’s just a giant paper weight at this moment sitting on my desk upstairs. Gino thinks that my hard drive is almost dead. Strange noises were heard coming from it last night and it wouldn’t boot-up either. This morning, I was actually able to get it booted-up and was able to back-up all my photos and files. Which is a great thing, if should happen to not boot-up again tomorrow! So why am I telling you this??? Because I use my “main” computer for blogging, I do not use my laptop computer for this. So that means, I will not be adding photos to the blog until I get my “main” computer back. I can add the updates but there will not be any photos. Just letting ya know…

School News: No school today for our little squirt. I awoke this morning at around 5 to the sound of her coughing. A dry hacking sound that put me on high alert for the rest of the morning. When the alarm went off at 7 a.m. I got up and dismissed her from school today. I went back to bed, finally falling asleep for a few hours before waking up at around 9:30 to hear Isabel say she didn’t get up in time for school.

Kindergarten: Day 92

Wow! Talk about a foggy morning. Could only see 2 houses down!

It was back to school this morning. Isabel was feeling better from her bad afternoon on Wednesday. So glad she was able to get back into class since tomorrow is her birthday. We had a surprise for her during school…

She said she had to wear her “headphones” on the way to school.

The opening activity was backward circle line practice with the letter “Oo“.

Back: backward circle practice small “Oo“. Awesome job with the little “o“.

Math work (she was working on this when we arrived!) Write the numbers, add them up, and draw an object for each number. Isabel drew hearts and marbles.

Back: math work. Her numbers are improving.

Finishing her work (above photos) up before sharing cupcakes with her class!

The class was excited to see the cupcakes, since they had cupcakes yesterday too because today was Nevan’s birthday and they celebrated his birthday yesterday. Tomorrow is Isabel’s!

Isabel’s table; Lliam, Audrey, Isabel, and Anabella.

Reese, Nevan, Maliyah, Jayden, and Taylor.

Ja’Siah, Lincoln, and Mishy.

Emma, Madeline, and Mariana.
(several of the kids were missing from class today)

After we left the kids went outside for recess. Isabel said she got to play with some boys from the other class but they started to be rough.
