First Grade: Day 147

Today is Thankful Thursday and it’s P.E. with Mrs. S.

During P.E. today the class played “sharks and widows“, “pac-man” and ran in around the gym 4 times. Isabel got a scratch above her elbow while playing “sharks and widows“. I had to put a bandage on it for her to go to bed because it was scrapping the sheets and making it burn a bit.

There is a girl in class that is older then everyone else, because she was held back to first grade (she should be in second). Well, this girl is mean to Isabel and other girls in class. She is bossy and says things to hurt their feelings. Isabel and I have had conversations about how we can help them all get along but Isabel is struggling with it.

I have seen how this girl acts first hand, when I was on recess duty a few weeks ago. Her social stills are not the best and she tends to act younger then her sister, who is kindergarten. I have told Isabel to walk away and go find something else to do, if she begins to bother Isabel. We still need to show her love but just walk away. So just pray that Isabel will remember these things we’ve talked about and still show her love even when it’s hard and she’s not being a friend (Relationship), showing Respect, or being Responsible enough to act in the way she’s supposed to. (the 3 R‘s)

Smart Award!
Isabel got this smart award sticker today for being 1 of 3 in class to answer a money question.

Teacher Mrs. B asked if anyone knew the answer, “How much money is: 2 quarters + 2 dimes + 2 nickels + 2 pennies?” The class had to figure out the total money count without writing down the answers on paper! Teacher Mrs. B asked several other money questions and only 2 others in class gave the correct answers and they got a smart award sticker too. Way to go!

First Grade: Day 146

Today is Wonderful Wednesday!

Wednesday is music class with Mr. G. They are working really hard on their spring concert that is coming up in two weeks. Can’t wait to see the performance since she was sick for the Christmas program this year.

Isabel didn’t really tell me about her day when I picked her up. She talked more about how a friend and her are going to cheer someone with a homemade card tomorrow. Somehow another friend got her feelings hurt and she won’t talk with Isabel and this other friend. So the two girls are going to surprise her with a homemade card and tell her sorry for hurting her feelings. I thought that was very sweet. So I’ll find out tomorrow how that went…

First Grade: Day 145

Today is Terrific Tuesday and it’s Chapel and library.

Isabel didn’t have much to say about school today. She had to go into extended school after school because I had a meeting. So that tends to erase all thoughts of her school day.

Today was “Family Chapel”. Together with her group they made bookmarks, but she lost hers.

During library today she got a Berenstain Bears book.

It’s Marvelous Monday!

Marvelous Monday means All-School Open. The Monday morning assembly for announcements and other fun stuff for the week. Isabel was picked last week to be the 3 R’s helper for today’s ASO! She had the honor of drawing the names of those who got a “Shining R“. For being the helper this week, she was able to get a prize from the box in the office.

Today is Fantastic Friday!

Today was Spirit Friday: crazy sock day!

Since Isabel didn’t have any crazy socks. She borrowed 2 pair’s of mine!
She took half and I took the other half!

Today the whole school got a visit from…RONALD MCDONALD!!!
Ronald and friends did an assembly on bullying. Ronald did a few tricks and got lots of laughs from Isabel and her friends. Always remember the golden rule, “Do unto other’s as you would have them do unto you.”

First Grade: Day 142

Today is Thankful Thursday and it’s P.E. with Mrs. S.

During P.E. today the class used the scooters. Isabel said they had relay races going back and forth the length of the gym. She likes the scooters but doesn’t like going backward.

She also mentioned doing back flips on the bar again at recess. Also one of the other girls, I can’t remember who, showed Isabel a new trick on the bars to do. Isabel said, it was easy and she could do that trick too.

Today is Wonderful Wednesday!

Nothing much was said about to today’s school day.

She did mention that she has learned to do a back flip off the bars at recess! The first time she did it she landed flat on her face on the ground. Now she says she can do it all the time and she’s not afraid.

First Grade: Day 140

Today is Terrific Tuesday and it’s Chapel and library.

Today was a special Honor’s Chapel. With the end of the 3rd quarter behind us, today was about honoring those who worked hard and excelled. Also being handed out today was the “Cougar Award“. Isabel got the award back in the first quarter of the school year. Today however we honored 7 other students for the Cougar Award and many others with attendance and academic achievement awards! Great job!

Isabel got two awards; Good Attendance and Superior Achievement in Academics! She does need to focus on the task at hand, verbal control, and listening. Otherwise she’s doing great.

After the awards ceremony, was Parent/Student lunch and I took Isabel out for lunch. She chose “Taco Time”, which is close to school since we ended up only having 30 min. to eat.
