Tonight we met up with cousin Jeannie, who’s in our area for job training, at the Old Spaghetti Factory.
We had a great time!
A life full of faith, hope, love, and laughter.
The sites and scenes of our everyday life away from home.
Today we stopped in at our local favorite store for some awesome fruit and veggies. The store carries the best produce around!
Today we picked up oranges, honey crisp apples, fuji apples, bananas, lettuce, strawberries, sweet potatoes, russet potatoes, steaks, a pretty blooming flower in a pot, and some other goodies for the week. Love this store!
While shopping, Isabel came across this wonderful sweet potato. Enjoy!
Look at her nose!
After putting my phone away she found another potato that looked like an inch worm (should have fished my phone out again)!
I also got me a pretty little flower for the patio, called Sentti, a reblooming pericallis. Very pretty!
It has lots of buds about ready to bloom!
For some reason when I took the picture with my phone, the flowers came out blue.
They are actually dark purple.
I’ll place it outside during the day but bring it into the house at night until after our last frost. I have a place in mind for it’s new home.
Since we can’t celebrate Isabel’s birthday during the week. We decided to celebrate this weekend! We headed to Seattle and the Pacific Science Center. The last time we were there Isabel was 3 and she doesn’t remember it at all.
We stopped for a quick breakfast at McDonald’s and then headed inside to see a movie first… Enjoy!
Eating breakfast before we head into the Science Center.
Daddy’s waiting to head inside.
We’re by the Needle!
Isabel wanted to go up but it was super foggy all day.
We watched “Flight of the Butterflies” in 3D which was great! After the movie was over we headed out to see the exhibits.
It’s like eating at God’s table in heaven!
It’s a BIG BIG TABLE!!
Inside a really BIG guitar.
After looking around outside by the Butterfly House at cockroaches, spiders, naked mole rats, beetles, and other small interesting animals, we went inside the BFH.
The butterflies were still eating breakfast in the BFH.
An “owl butterfly“.
These seemed to be every where you looked.
Bright orange (not sure what these 2 butterflies are called).
It didn’t seem like there were very many butterflies in the BFH this time.
After the BFH, we had time to waste before the staff fed one of the snakes at 2 p.m. So we walked over to the dinosaur exhibit (when Isabel was 3 she didn’t want to go inside, they scared her!) and looked around. We noticed that the recorded noises of the dinosaurs were gone. We think this is what scared her the last time we were here. She wasn’t scared this time.
Inside a space capsule, Isabel is on her mission back to earth.
Puget Sound animal tide pool.
Hands on learning!
By this time it was almost 2 p.m., so we headed back to the animals to see the snake get fed.
The staff feeds the snakes (the one we watched was a girl) dead rats, so as not to harm the snake with sharp teeth and claws. The snake still reacted to the rat as though it was alive, crushing it before swallowing it whole.
The snake was very active before the feeding. She moved around her enclosure waiting for her meal to arrive.
After the feeding she focused on her meal.
She had the rat down in about 5 minutes or so. Didn’t take long.
Isabel stayed near the front to see all the action.
After the snake feeding we headed back to the tide pool area and entered the new “Wellbody Academy“. Learning how to sleep well, exercise well, eat well, and wash well. We had fun. Isabel’s favorite part was squishing germs on the interactive floor.
Wash well: we learned about proper hand washing, played tic-tac-eww, and Isabel learned how far a sneeze really travels in the sneeze zone. We all played the “odor decoder” game.
Exercise well: Isabel loved the “exergames” and smashing bugs on the interactive floor. Isabel tried the sugar burner exercises with a crank and recumbent bike. In “loft-a-palooza” she butt bounced and jumped pump a ball into a target overhead.
Eat well: At the food analyzer, she got to pick different food “puck” to learn about nutritional information. At burger planet, she got to learn about making better food choices at the drive up window.
Sleep well: we didn’t look around in the this area.
By this time we were hungry, so we decided to head out and get some food. We walked down to Zeek’s Pizza for salad and pepperoni pie.
At Zeek’s they gave Isabel a bit of dough to play with.
Happy Birthday Isabel!
Dough on her nose.
Birthday girl!
Today is the Spelling Bee!
After weeks and weeks of practice the day has finally arrived. We had to drive up to Bothell (just over an hours drive) where the Bee was being held. After we arrived we were told only 1 parent was allowed in the room with the spellers and Isabel choose to take Daddy with her! I got to sit in the church sanctuary and watch VeggieTales!
Memorabilia from the spelling bee.
Word list, name tag and a program.
We had to wait for the Bee to start.
She’s super excited!… and a little nervous!
Daddy and Isabel left the church sanctuary at around 12:30 pm and at 1:40 pm Gino texted me that she had won first place!!!
After 17 other participants, 20 rounds, 22 words and countless hours of practice she was the winner. If they had gone another round they would have used the unpublished first-grade words.
Her winning words were:
bar
try
west
word
daisy
holy
loss
choking
cobra
crick
fibber
gauze
narrow
ninth
ode
reporter
rift
slavery
strings
surely
washing
(missing one because we can’t remember what it was!)
To win the Bee she had to spell 2 words; rift and strings. She had 4 easy words, 3 average words, and 14 difficult words.
First place was Isabel and she got a trophy.
Second, third and fourth places got a ribbon! Awesome job first-graders!!!
That smile was priceless!
She is so happy!
Teacher Mrs. B (she was a judge – in another room) was there as well and she was excited to hear and see Isabel win!
12 students (1st-6th grade) from our school attended the Bee.
In the car on the way home she kept her hands on her trophy and a smile on her face the whole way!
At home with her trophy!

Today is our last day with Nana and Pompo. They have visited with us for 2 weeks and now it’s time for them to go back home. We sure did have fun and have enjoyed our time together with them and we will surely miss them when they are gone.
Their flight isn’t until 5:30, so we took (Pompo took us!) them to lunch at Bahama Breeze before taking them to the airport.
But first it’s a lovely day for some photos outside…
Gino with his parents.
Family shot with Nana and Pompo.
Now it’s time for some lunch! I’m hungry…
Nana and Isabel playing games on her menu.
Pompo and Nana both got the chicken tortilla soup.
Isabel got bow-tie pasta with sauce and a fruit cup.
Gino got a apple-wood bacon and cheddar burger and fries and I got this yummy wood-grilled chicken breast sandwich (DELICIOUS!)
Today we took Nana and Pompo to the thrift stores downtown, hoping to find Isabel a new winter jacket.
Didn’t find a coat but I did find 2 shirts and 2 skirts for her, for under $11.00! What a deal and they are all so cute!!!
The 2 skirts she can wear to chapel on Tuesdays and the shirts she can wear in layers with other things she already owns!
Skirt number 1 is corduroy, lined and is adjustable waist.
She could also wear a belt with it, threaded through the loops along the top.
Skirt number 1 can be worn with this shirt.
(which was given to her for Christmas from Nana and Pompo).
Skirt number 1 can also be worn with this shirt.
(which was given to her for Christmas from Mommy and Daddy)
Shirt number 1 is a short sleeve top that can be layered with a long sleeve underneath.
Close up of the pattern for shirt number 1.
Can be worn with just about any color! Adorable!
Skirt 2 is cotton and can be worn to twirl in!
Close up of skirt 2.
Love the cream flowered design.
Shirt number 2 is just a long sleeved brown shirt that I purchased to layer with other items that she already owns. I didn’t take a picture, it’s just brown and plain.
Isabel purchased, with her own money, 2 gently used books to add to her growing library. She was thrilled to get both of them for .99 cents each! Can’t go wrong with a book for that price!
It’s Fantastic Friday!
Today would have been music class with Mr. G but they had music yesterday.
The talk in the classroom, is the FIELD TRIP of course!! With all the excitement in the air, they didn’t get much work done and at one point Teacher Mrs. B had to flicker the lights to get the class to settle down! They did get in 1 recess though and had lunch at school before leaving…

If you haven’t guessed by now the class is headed to the PUMPKIN PATCH for all kinds of fall harvest fun!!!
When Isabel got back from school/field trip the first thing she had to show me was her pumpkin. She choose this pumpkin carefully she said, even walked down the farthest aisle. She wanted one that was smooth, round and not to big or to small. She did an excellent job!
She hasn’t decided what she’s going to carve on it yet.
I’ve heard her say polka-dots, a cross, a face and a combination of those. So we’ll see…

She had a really really fun time at the pumpkin patch.
She got to jump in the mud and run in the rain!
She got to see some farm animals; goats, turkeys, piglets, rabbits and chicks.
As a class group, they got to go in the 5 acre corn maze. However one little boy from class got lost and they had to go find him. How scary!
In the rope maze, she got to explore on her own and got stuck at one point and went under the ropes to get out! This maze had 3 slides and a bell that you could ring! Isabel said she liked the middle slide the best because it had a bump in the middle!
They got to ride on a tractor/trailer with really squishy seats! The tractor/trailer Isabel was on was decorated like a cow! The other tractor/trailer was decorated like a pig!
They also apple cider before choosing their pumpkins and heading home.
Sounds like a lot of fun!!
