First Grade: Day 23

Today is Friday!

Friday in class is called “Fantastic Fridays“.

On Fantastic Fridays, they attend music class with Mr. G, just like on Wednesdays. My class, the 3 year olds,  also had music with Mr. G today. They were captivated by him and his guitar!

Today is also the Friday Folder, which is folder filled with all of the weeks graded work. Isabel’s was stuffed this week! They really do a lot of work each week!

This is the clown I mentioned before that were hanging the classroom for a while, she got to bring it home.
I love that her clown is the only one with it’s feet turned inward!

Who can make a rainbow?
There is a little song, that she sings with this as well.

There is a new bulletin board in class. It’s a place where Teacher Mrs. B puts up students work that is fantastic.

Math packet that was on the board.

Her number writing has improved so much since school began.
She really focuses on doing her work well.

Back of math packet.
She did each page correct and complete.

This is part of her math homework that she does every day after school. She completes one side at school and then the other side is homework at home. The next day she hands it in and then we wait until Friday to see how she did. This week she got all the answers right. (I later learned that 1 of the papers from the week was on the bulletin board in class – probably get it next Friday.)

There is more homework in the Friday Folder but I’m not going to post it all. She did a great job this week on all her work.

First Grade: Day 22

Thursday in class is called “Thankful Thursdays“.

Thankful Thursday is also P.E. with Mrs. S and computer lab with Mrs. T. For P.E. today they did running in the gym and played a game like dodge ball too.

In computer lab today, they did more AR testing. The school (all together) has already read over 3 million words!! Their goal for the school year is to read 50 million words!! Wow!

The story of Noah is coming to an end and today the class made
these cute “puffy” rainbows. After cutting it out, the class filled it with shredded paper.

Learning about contraction word’s. I love her coma’s!
This is great I don’t remember learning this in first grade.

Learning the correct way to form a sentence.
Capital letter to begin and then a period or explanation point at the end!

Unscrambling the sentence correctly. Fantastic work!

First Grade: Day 19

I am working all this week with the elementary side and then switching back over to the preschool side on Thursday. I will be helping with the opening, helping in the kindergarten class and covering all the morning recesses. Today was a good day, I was a bit confused with what and where to go but that all passed when I was handed my own WHISTLE!!! Whewww!! Whew! Whew!

Monday in class is called “Marvelous Monday”!

Marvelous Mondays are also All-School Open, the school assembly that is held first thing each Monday of the week.

Today we had a guest speaker,  Mr. Sigmund Brouwer author of several children’s books. He spoke about his literacy program “Cool 2 Read“. It was a great assembly with a lot of audience participation!! The kids loved it!!

Isabel also did some AR testing today. She said she missed a few questions on one of the tests but got all the answers right on 2 others.

Front: beautiful phonics work.

Back: spelling words are beautiful too! Her writing has really improved!

Front: rhyming words.

Back: rhyming words.

Isabel was excited to see me at recess and I enjoyed seeing her in action with the other kids. I’ll be out there through Wednesday with my new WHISTLE!! Wheww!!
