Happy Birthday Presley

Isabel was invited to her very first girl birthday party this weekend and was she so excited to go! I enjoyed getting to see all the girls together outside of the classroom and it was also great to talk with the other moms and get to know them better. Enjoy!

Isabel all dressed up! She’s ready to party with the other “princesses”!
Note the crown, earrings, necklaces, and shoes because that’s the last time you’ll see them on her today!

All the “princesses” (and a little prince) at the party; minus one little “princess” who arrived after this photo was taken. (All the girls, except the “princess” on the far left and the little prince, are girls from Isabel’s class at school)

After a lunch of pizza, all the “princesses” sit down to decorate some “crowns”.
Left to right: Isabel, the Birthday Girl, Presley, and Rebecca.

Fun! Fun! Fun! Decorating those “crown” cookies. So many choice’s in icing color to sprinkles of every color and shape.

The other table of “princesses” and the “prince” making crowns.

Isabel’s finished “crown” cookie loaded with icing and sprinkles!

Opening gifts with all the “princesses” gathered all around…so close to the Birthday Princess that I couldn’t get any photos of her opening gifts.

Happy Birthday, Presley!

School News: Snowman Soup

Today started out rather slow but we got back on track rather quickly and made it to school with 5 minutes to spare before the door opened!

Snowman Soup:
A bit of cocoa
A handful of marshmallows
1 candy cane
Add 1 cup warm water, stir together and enjoy!

When the weather outside is frightful, Snowman Soup can be delightful! May it warm your spirit and your soul. Let it snow. Let it snow. Let it snow.

Isabel was very excited to show me her blue bag of Snowman Soup when I arrived back at the classroom to pick her up. They had hot chocolate, marshmallows, and candy canes today in class! Isabel must have really enjoyed hers because the evidence was all over her face!

Not until we were sitting down to eat lunch, did she tell me about her day at school. The Bible story today was about John the Baptist. “Did you know that he ate grasshopper’s dipped in honey?” Isabel said. “He also baptized people and even JESUS!” When I asked her she is wanted to try honey dipped grasshoppers. She laughed and said “No way, that’s gross!” Ha Ha!

Since it wasn’t raining, the class got to play outside today. Isabel said that Makayla and her pretended to get “oil” (rocks) and put them in the bikes, grass, and on the ground. When I asked her why oil, she said just because. Isabel was very happy that Makayla talked with her a lot today and played with her outside.

The special helper today was Emily. For show and tell, Emily brought 2 dolls, 1 doll was named Emma, and a white puppy. For snack, Emily shared with the class, Tinker bell fruit snacks, Granola bars with chocolate chips inside, and juice.

School News: Letter K

This morning we were running to get to school. Isabel must be going through a growing spurt because she ate a lot for breakfast. She had a waffle, half a banana, a fiber breakfast bar, and milk! When we arrived at school though, we weren’t the only ones running a bit behind!

The letter “K” is for King as Isabel illustrated inside her letter “K” today.
Isabel said that she was the only one to draw the kings wearing the crowns.

Made a winter scene with a chalk snowman and foam sticker snowflakes. They heard a story about animals having a funny winter day together.

Today was Chapel. The classes heard the story about Jesus calming the storm at sea and they sang songs, just like in the classroom. During Chapel, Isabel was quiet and she got a sticker afterward. During free play, they got to play with ice again at the Science table. Also during free play Isabel made me a “special” craft (I forgot to take a picture).

Today’s special helper was Mila. Mila brought a ladybug for show and tell. The ladybug was big and round, was red with black polka-dots, and lit up with buttons on the bottom. When the ladybug lit up it turned blue! For snack, Mila brought fishy cheese crackers, fruit-shaped fruit snacks, and juice.

School News: Timmy The Turtle

Today was the first day back to school after the Christmas break. Isabel was really excited to get back and see all her friends, but after we arrived to class she acted a bit dazed and confused. She wasn’t interested in her friends anymore, she was more interested in how the room looked and changed since she’d last been there. I had to keep telling her to hang up her coat and get a pencil to write her name. When she finally sat down to write her name, I had to keep reminding her to focus on the page and write! Silly girl.

Timmy the Turtle

Isabel was very excited to show me her Timmy the Turtle that she made in class. She said that they read a story about him and then filled him with stuffing and a heart was inside. Since the weather has been so cold lately, today the class played in the gym today, instead of going outside to play. Isabel said that they placed paper on the floor and everyone got to act like they were ice skating! After that they, pretended to have a snowball fight with the crinkled up paper from the ice skating! Isabel says that she tried to get Mrs. W. and Mrs. W tried to get her! How fun would that be?! She also mentioned that they did something with ice cubes in the class room but she didn’t give me all the details on that.

The Special helper today was Ezzra. For show and tell, she brought a “My Pillow Pets” which was a monkey. For snack they had crackers and cheese with juice.
